The counterfeit products, sold for as little as 200 yuan, were found on Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba's online shopping website Taobao.com and at pubs and karaoke bars, reported the Sydney Morning Herald. The wines normally retail for the equivalent of 600 to 3000 yuan. According to the Herald, Australian wine giant Treasury Wine Estates, the company behind premium brands Penfolds and Grange, had filed a complaint with Alibaba, who then alerted Chinese police in August. That led to a three-month police investigation. Thirteen suspects have been detained, including a man surnamed Dai who allegedly achieved sales worth 1.2 million yuan for three months in a row through an online store on Taobao. Another man, a supplier surnamed Su, was also detained, police said.
http://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/chinese-police-seize-14000-bottles-of-fake-australian-wine?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&xtor=CS1-10
Why would you pretend it to be Australian. Nobody is going to buy nasty-ass wine.
Now I'm wondering how many cases of methanol poisoning can be linked to these wines.
Why would you pretend it to be Australian. Nobody is going to buy nasty-ass wine.
Australia produces a lot of good wine.
Why would you pretend it to be Australian. Nobody is going to buy nasty-ass wine.
Australian wine is extremely popular.
Cloudy Bay and Oyster Bay are both from New Zealand dude...
Eh, what's the difference.
Australia produces a lot of good wine.
Honestly unsure what's funny about this tbh. Wine is a worldwide thing, Australia strangely enough happens to have a lot of soil that can produce excellent vines (is this how the universe makes up for the country being populated with things that want to kill you?). Particularly interesting area if you're into new world wines. Since we're on the topic of aussie wine, I've always found the Jacobs Creek wines to be pretty good
Australia produces a lot of wine.
Fixed that for you. [editline]19th November 2017[/editline] Also I've gotta say aussies, you make some pretty good shiraz, keep up the good work.
Seems like they would have gotton away with it if they would have priced a little higher and closer to retail.

It's like getting a bottle of Mediterranean wine without the crapshoot in quality.
Think I'll just stick to my goon sack
