Alek Skarlatos, the Roseburg man who helped stop a terror attack on a Paris-bound train in 2015, will star in Clint Eastwood’s new movie about the thwarted attack.
Oregon Natl. Guardsman Skarlatos was on the Paris-bound train August 20, 2015 with his childhood friends, Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone and college student Anthony Sadler, when they tackled and subdued a would-be shooter.
Eastwood’s new film titled “The 15:17 to Paris” is based off the book that the three friends wrote about the experience.
According to reports released Tuesday, Eastwood has tapped all three men to play themselves in the film.
Not sure how this can be stretched to a book or movie. Anyone here read it?

There's a movie based on fucking emojies. I'm sure they'll be fine
Gran Torino taught me using more realistic "actors" doesn't really pay off that well.
They've been doing that in movies for a long time, it's only a problem in the hands of poor filmmakers

Are you serious? Gran Torino is a fantastic movie.
A more apt comparison would be that awful Seal Team 6 movie they made with real navy seals. Now that movie was hot garbage.
Some news interviews or a short doco i can understand but is the state of the movie industry that bad they have to jump on any event where someone risks themself to save others? What about all the police that risked their lifes in the other paris attacks, is that less worthy of being told?

Easy AF
you show the guys lives, like, what they were doing and at the same time the terrorists lives, so as to create contrary positions. Then you add some drama, put it in the oven for like half and hour and BANG.
Blockbuster.

Fruitvale Station was a movie about a guy who went out to celebrate new years and got killed by a police officer, and it was good. You can build a lot on a small story, and it can be good if done properly.
What is with this bunch of patriotic movies popping up lately

You can make a good movie out of the most insignificant event.

Clint Eastwood carried that movie himself. The kid who played Tao was an awful actor although the others were pretty good.

Well-produced unofficial propaganda, pretty much. Same deal with American Sniper.
That being said, Clint's a phenomenal filmmaker.

Not really. The kids poor acting, intentional or otherwise, added to how worthless and awkward Tao was as a character. I thought everyone in the movie was great.

Do people really think this? Awful acting, dumb plot. Ending was good, but was ruined by the fact that there was little reason to care about any of it.

Being John Malkovich comes to mind.
