Poor guy, he probably panicked and tried to save her without thinking that a 50KG+ body from that high is a deadly projectile.

at that speed and height that's almost 400 pounds of force being exerted on collision he just wanted to do the right thing but he couldn't have known what was gonna happen. and even if he chose to step aside, he would have went on thinking he possibly could have saved her. such a shame

I know this might sound mean and selfish to someone, but can't suicidal people have enough empathy to at least kill themselves in a way that can't harm / traumatize others?

You're completely messed up if you get to the point where that's your way out. Either they don't consider it, or their desire to end their life as quickly as possible overcomes any empathy they may have. It's a long and shitty road to suicide, and you don't go down it and come out as mentally fit as the average joe. It's heartbreaking.

God that sucks. No time at all to think so he instantly just tries to do the best thing he can and it ends up badly.

Eventually someone will find the body, which can be just as traumatizing as witnessing the person committing suicide. It's just an inherently awful experience for all involved, especially those who feel their only option left in the world is to commit suicide.

Pretty dark thought, but it's true for everyone.
