(KMSP) - The Justice Department has announced criminal charges against 412 people, including 115 doctors, nurses and other licensed medical professionals, for their roles in what Attorney General Jeff Sessions is calling the largest health care fraud takedown operation in American history. The alleged health care fraud schemes involve approximately $1.3 billion in false billings. Of the defendants charged, more than 120 people, including doctors, were charged with opioid-related crimes, making this also the largest opioid-related fraud takedown in American history.

RECRUITING ADDICTS: In Palm Beach, Florida, the owner and operator of an alleged fake rehab facility for drug addicts was charged in a scheme involving the submission of over $58 million in fraudulent medical insurance claims. The facility is alleged to have recruited addicts with gift cards, visits to strip clubs and casinos, and drugs. PAINKILLERS FOR CASH: In Houston, Texas, a purported pain management clinic allegedly gave out prescriptions for cash. One doctor at this clinic allegedly gave out 12,000 opioid prescriptions for more than two million illegal painkiller doses. According to the charges, approximately 60 to 70 people were seen daily, and were issued medically unnecessary prescriptions for hydrocodone in exchange for approximately $300 cash per visit.
http://www.fox9.com/news/267649616-story More in the article
Good, these people are a part of the reason why the U.S health care system sucks.
Pill mills are a direct contributor to the opioid problem in this country. Fuck 'em.
I had an minor problem with opioid addiction once with these pills. After the first few highs they barely do much afterwards but you slowly and continuely keep taking it and you don't know why. Shits fucked up. Please just stick to weed guys.
i was patiently waiting for this to happen. I've been reading about a lot of opiate drugs being regulated and approved in recent and I knew that shit was gonna go down sooner or later. Esp here in Florida. Its so bad. I have friends who are now doing meth and shit.. good people... Its saddening.
Opioid are a huge problem in our country currently, ravaging suburban communities and destroying the lives of god knows how many teens and young adults. The fact this problem exists because an elite few wish to profit is disgusting. I wish only the absolute worst for those responsible.
Good on them for taking out the trash, pill mills are a serious problem. Medicine is meant to help people, not drive them to a slow death because you want a few more bucks in your pocket.
You'd think someone smart enough to go through 11 years of school to become a doctor would be smart enough to realize they'll get caught [editline]19th July 2017[/editline] I mean, every script you've ever received is accessible to any doctor with the doctor who prescribed it, where it was filled and even how it was paid for. Seriously, how do they think they're not gonna get caught

Or they don't give a rat's ass about the risks. Even in India you see this with the amount of quacks who've been mushrooming here lately to say nothing of that organ transplant ring they broke up last year up north.

Seriously, how do they think they're not gonna get caught
Its the rings you don't hear about on the news that aren't caught and if this large of a group was found there's a good chance another one is also mucking about but organized. You hear about the thieves that attempt to rob a jewelry store, get caught and given a spotlight on the 5 o'clock news. You don't hear about the professional jewelry store thieves that test the alarm system, mark cameras, and come into the place and get out of it in under a minute with the loot already sold before it was stolen. The same can be said for professional pill pushers who know how to avoid the law, these guys clearly didn't cover their tracks and thought government incompetence would work in their favor like the dumbasses they are.

hi there, reporting in from our nation's opiod hotbed New Hampshire, shits literally gotten out of control up here. Operation Granite Hammer has totally hit full stride and there have been like 4 major fent busts in the last week. of course this is after weve literally become jaded to the crisis due to hearing about at least a handful of opiate related deaths per week for the past year. so many people i know have turned to the shit its nuts, i genuinely know people who smoke meth daily and say 'at least im not a crank head' like theyre smoking pot, totally unbelievable

I even tried oxy from a dealer before a few times but stopped with no problem. It was when I gotten a shitload of them from a doctor is when shit got real. It would even be worse for people who are not educated about opioids.

I had druggy friends, same ages as me, (i live in miami) who wanted to pay me for the bottle.. i was like wtf? no? thats my medicine.. little did I know..
just found out one of these doctors was the guy who practically fed pills to my grandmother on my mother's side, she ended up killing herself when my mom was still a teenager. and the guy got off on a 250k bond too, didn't even get hit with any jailtime.
Every time I pick up my script I think, "Man I sure hope I dont go to jail over this weed in my car on my way to go pick up my free government meth"
