On Tuesday (Sept 12), lawyers for Peta said that Mr Slater has agreed to donate a quarter of any future revenue from selling the photograph. The funds will go to registered charities "dedicated to protecting the welfare or habitat of Naruto", said both parties in a joint statement, reported the BBC. Peta also said it would continue to establish legal rights for animals. "Everyone deserves the rights we hold dear: to live as they choose, to be with their families, to be free from abuse and suffering, and to benefit from their own creations," said the animal rights group on its website.
http://www.straitstimes.com/world/europe/monkey-selfie-copyright-lawsuit-ends-in-settlement?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&xtor=CS1-10#link_time=1505187271
"Everyone deserves the rights we hold dear: to live as they choose, to be with their families, to be free from abuse and suffering, and to benefit from their own creations,"
"that's why we tried to ruin a photographer because a monkey pushed the button on his camera"
this is so stupid
:tired:
Peta is literal fucking cancer
PETA doesn't care about animals if you believe they do, its because you're literally the definition of stupid
PETA put down a family's dog. Fuck PETA. Fuck all of them. EDIT: Can we set up a gofundme for this dudes legal fees?
"that's why we tried to ruin a photographer because a monkey pushed the button on his camera"
The fact they accepted 25% of their profits as a settlement shows their true motive ...
PETA put down a family's dog.
they put down most animals they 'liberate'
who the fuck is still funding peta? it's such an obvious heap of shit and there are millions of better animal welfare organisations out there
they put down most animals they 'liberate'
Shame this hasn't been done for PETA itself, it's a worthless attention whoring cancer well past its use. That they've been allowed to ruin this guy in court makes a mockery of the legal system.
who the fuck is still funding peta? it's such an obvious heap of shit and there are millions of better animal welfare organisations out there
naive people who get sucked into the "for just the price of a cup of coffee a week, you could save these animals lives" line. [editline]12th September 2017[/editline] they don't go to malls and try to get people to donate to them by saying "we kill almost every animal that comes into our shelters and dump them in mass graves"
"Everyone deserves the rights we hold dear: to live as they choose, to be with their families, to be free from abuse and suffering, and to benefit from their own creations," said the animal rights group on its website.
Oh yes, because a fucking MONKEY is soooooo concerned with holding copyright over a picture! Eat a fucking dick and die, PETA.
who the fuck is still funding peta? it's such an obvious heap of shit and there are millions of better animal welfare organisations out there
People who hear "protection of animals" and don't look a nanometre further into them because they make the hopeful assumption that a famous animal rights organisation wouldn't be horrible people murdering thousands of animals for no good reason.
There are actual injustices against animals out there in the world, and PETA said to themselves that the fight they want to fight, over the inhumane farm conditions, the extinction of African marvels due to poaching, or the routine mistreatment in puppy mills, was to give a monkey legal rights of its selfie. This is just one chapter in the novel of reasons no one fucking likes you, PETA.
PETA are real life fucking trolls. Why do they still exist?
Is the animal executions something particular to PETA? IIRC it is typical behavior for most pounds, rescues, etc.. You can't just hold every pet that comes in forever without them being adopted. I mean there's other great reasons to hate them but yeh.
Far as I remember, it's because they make much, much less of an effort to do things that would not get the animals killed than any other shelter organisation.
Alongside not giving a damn about regulations and laws pertaining to putting pets down. As in the above mentioned article where they almost instantly put down the family's dog, when it should've had a grace period of 5 days before you can do that.
PETA are real life fucking trolls. Why do they still exist?
They exist because they are trolls. I mentioned before but I was at Warped Tour this year and they were going around to each kid individually and offering them free swag if they helped boost the numbers on some petition. They actually checked your phone to make sure it went through.
Again, who are they to even say this monkey didn't want her work to be public domain? :v:
Again, who are they to even say this monkey didn't want her work to be public domain? :v:
If it was public domain the photographer wouldn't own it either.
If the monkey can hold the rights to the picture, then why shouldn't it pay taxes? ANIMALS NEED TO PAY TAXES TOO
PETA just go away and never come back
I hope the person who took the picture stops selling it instantly. Fuck PETA
That would be the monkey :vs:

That's why.
They put animals down instead of rehousing them wherever they possibly can, because they believe animals are better off dead than as pets. That's why.
Am I mistaken here or aren't assited suicide and being batshit insane a core part of most sects? Because at this point PETA might as well be called one.
BELIEVE IT!
