Dabbing is banned in the conservative country where authorities consider it a reference to narcotics culture. A video of Mr Al Shahani's dab became popular on social media and thousands have tweeted about the incident. It is thought that dabbing originated in the hip-hop scene in Atlanta, Georgia, US, around two years ago, but gained a global following when celebrities, athletes and politicians including Hillary Clinton and Paul Ryan began performing the move. The Saudi Interior Ministry's National Commission for Combating Drugs recently banned the move because they consider it to refer to marijuana use. A poster published by the ministry depicting dabbing warns "people about the dangers of this [move] on the youth and society, and is warning against imitating it".
authorities consider it a reference to narcotics culture
Wait, is it actually?
Wait, is it actually?

Dab Popular new dance that consists of bringing your elbow pit to your face (as if you were to cough) and extending your other arm as if to continue the line that your arm makes. Originates from the practice of smoking 'dab', which is a stronger type of hash, made from hash oils and having to cough just after taking a toke.
esketittttt
[snip, i'm totally wrong]
Wait, is it actually?
I've heard 'dabbing' used in the context of smoking so I wouldn't be at all surprised.
Finally, a ridiculous and unreasonable arrest I can get behind.
Wow the saudi police finally scores once against common reason!
Wait, is it actually?
Migos and Offset specifically gets (colloquially) the credit for inventing the dab. You can find some other shit on google, but I haven't heard nobody say it's popular for any reason other than Migos.
I've heard 'dabbing' used in the context of smoking so I wouldn't be at all surprised.
a dab is a type of THC concentrate that looks kind of like wax. but it has literally nothing at all to do with the dance move whatsoever except that they share a name
a dab is a type of THC concentrate that looks kind of like wax. but it has literally nothing at all to do with the dance move whatsoever except that they share a name
Clearly them having the same name means they ARE related, you infidel!
but I haven't heard nobody say it's popular for any reason other than Migos.
I wasn't aware this guy existed and haven't heard anybody say it's popular for any reason other than 'everybody does it' and 'it's fucking annoying so of course I do it when I'm with friends in public". Not even from my brother in law who's wildly into the music scene you see where this logic goes? How many people are blissfully aware of origins and connotations behind a dumb joke trend? like yeah it's a recent fad, sure it had to come from somewhere pretty visible and the name was most likely just a shitty reference, but arresting over the move's name's drug affiliation is some level of petty nitpicking, but then again this is Saudi Arabia and they DID apparently have a law about it, though one always has to wonder about the visibility of garbage like that in the meantime here's a soldier in 1942 [t]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/e3/8b/d0/e38bd0b474769c75238c7b0a4af2a04e.jpg[/t]
Finally, a ridiculous and unreasonable arrest I can get behind.
I thought nothing could trump Malaysia banning Despacito on public broadcast, but then this happened.
This is a photoshop.... Right? :tinfoil:
Nah, time travelers are kind of dicks

I'd only ever heard dabbing in reference to hash oil/budder. Then i heard all the kids were dabbing and I wanted in on that high % thc shit but then learnt it was just a funny dance
its called a dab because you cough stupid hard after ripping a fat dab migos coined it, be ayse they rip mad hash wax
This is a photoshop.... Right? :tinfoil:
It's a photo from the set of Dunkirk actually : [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cm3OUVyXgAILfQG.jpg[/t]
saudia is a place where fun goes to die. there was a music festival and lots of people call it haram and many people tried to protest/vandilise it to the point that people cut the cord off of boom boxes and music equpment. And cant forget comicon, where people got shat on cosplays and hobbies is "ruining the youth" and "makes them stray away from islam"
This is just one of those "it's kind of fun but then you do it and grumpy people get all grumpy about it and then it's even funnier" things. Somebody getting killed for doing it is only throwing fuel in the hype train. I imagine everybody with a teen in their age in America has heard this story by now.
It's a photo from the set of Dunkirk actually : [t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cm3OUVyXgAILfQG.jpg[/t]
Makes 100% sense now. Damn, how easily fooled one can be these days.
Are fidget spinners allowed though?
the Saudis can be utilised as a force for good, just like greed, a negative attribute, is used for good within capitalism. We can send Jake Paul there where he won't be able to resist dabbing, and the rest is history.
