Surgeon admits to branding initials on patients' livers

Dr. Simon Bramhall, 53, admitted to Birmingham Crown Court that he etched "SB" onto the livers of two transplant patients in 2013 using an argon beam. Argon beam coagulators are commonly used during such operations to stop blood flow and resection organs.
Bramhall's handiwork didn't appear to damage either liver, but the Telegraph reported that one of the patients ended up having other complications and that the initials were discovered during a followup procedure. Surprise, surgeons!

Any story about doctors, especially surgeons, taking advantage of the patient's trust in them makes me go :scream:
if i ever have to go in for some surgery like this i would make sure to explicitly give the surgeon permission to put his initials on one of my organs
Hey, people usually sign their work if they're proud of it so think of it as Quality Assurance.

Unless he dated it, it still isn't GLP.
Can I ask for inscriptions next time I go into organ surgery?

I mean, he clearly knew what he was doing, and that what he was doing wouldn't cause any damage, but yeah, it is taking advantage a tad.
Can he brand some sick flames on my kidneys?
Can he brand some sick flames on my kidneys?
To make them go faster?
tbh there are far worse places he could've put it.
I mean atleast it didn't cause damage
"Honey, what are these initials under your ballsack?"
"I got my tubes tied."

Plus if the surgeon gets famouns you can say it's a real Dr. Simon Bramhall :v:
Very unprofessional, but it didn't damage the liver at all.
If anything, the transplant patients got a nice story to tell.
internal tattoos will be the new trend

I dunno, something like this is so comical.
Like it sounds like something med students would joke about
I hope one day my neurosurgeon will do the same to me.

I hear writing on brains is generally a bad idea :v:
i want someone to draw a dick on my liver now
I want "Fe" branded onto my liver
I want "Fe" branded onto my liver
So do I.
Yikes. If I ever have to have invasive surgery, I want to make sure it's recorded for evidence.
"Honey, what are these initials under your ballsack?"

Tubes tied, ballsack, please choose just one

Not allowed to have your own camera/phone in the OR because of contamination AFAIK

It's pretty damn funny, but without patient consent this shit is easy grounds for a malpractice suit. Surgeons have been fired for this in the past - It's a big breach in policy and professionalism.

Next level tattoos. I want a butterfly on my spleen and the word "bitch" on one kidney and "please" on the other.
Heres an idea:
Inscriptions and skins for your organs
now for an extra $4.99!
EA should hire me.
i want mine branded with a jack daniels logo

i'm imagining someone pulling themselves open at a bar to impress someone with the initials signed onto their liver.
I gotta say if I found out a surgeon wrote their initials on one of my organs during surgery I'd probably find it more funny than anything as long as it's completely harmless.
