From normal to strange, Jessica Cranford processes all kinds of donations at the Goodwill store on Randolph Street. "We get knickknacks, different clothes," said Cranford, a participant in Goodwill’s WorkFirst training program. "Little bits and pieces of jewelry." But on May 26, Cranford says a co-worker found a small bottle with the words "Dad's ashes" written across it. "I think his words were, ‘You're never going to believe what I found,'” she said.
http://myfox8.com/2017/06/07/he-needs-to-be-with-his-family-bottle-labeled-dads-ashes-found-at-thomasville-goodwill/
Hoping the remains get back to the family safely. The scattering of my father's ashes is still TBD but I'd feel godawful if anything happened to them in the meantime. It's bizarre how something like that could happen.

We tried a few times but got caught each time, so we made it into a rainy day project, then my dad passed away and in the process of my mom trying to steal everything he and I owned his ashes sort of disappeared... Thankfully I spread some of him over my dad's grave before that happened, so at least I have that. Would be nice to find the rest of him some day.

My dad doesn't have a single sentimental keepsake of his father because of that greedy bitch. In a dose of healthy karma, the business venture didn't just implode losing her ill-gotten investment, it also left her in enough debt to foreclose her house. Some people out there, when driven by specific emotions, can be nothing short of monsters. :frown:

After my father's death, his boss handed my grandparents $1,000 and told them to give it to my mother to help us pay for the cremation and etc. They never gave it to us, never told us about it, and didn't so much as even give us a cent to help pay for anything. The only way we found out about it was because my father's boss called and asked if we had received it.
All of your stories remind me of my own, less bad story. my dad was a lawyer, when he passed it fell on our family to maintain his files as the law society dictates we should have. We've opened up a storage locker to maintain these files, it's costing us 1300 a month to do so, and despite the law society pledging to take over the files, they're actually bleeding the rest of my dads "Accounts Receivable" accounts dry and dragging their feet. My dad left my mom everything, and she won't see a single cent of it because of the law societies fees. And I should note, the law society doesn't normally write articles about lawyers who pass away. They wrote several about my dad and this is still how they treat his family.

Willfully selfish but fuck it. but this, THIS is pure scummy beyond measure

Out of the 11 Emmy's that he had, we've only been able to track down 5 of them so far. When he was younger and of sounder mind, he had told us that he wanted my cousins and I to each have one but we think that this church group that was "helping" him ended up helping themselves to them after he passed, along with a bunch of his money that was supposed to be used to take care of his bills, cremation, and for one of us to take his ashes to Savannah, GA so we could spread them where he had spread his partner's ashes. People are dickheads.
