In the 10-second video, posted on social media and Chinese news sites, the man shouts: "I'm scared to death!" The gag came amid reports of glass walkways and bridges, many of which were built in China, cracking for real. A pane of glass cracked on the walkway at Yuntai Mountain just a month after it opened, it was reported in October 2015. East Taihang Scenic District authorities assured visitors that this was a planned gimmick using "body weight-sensing" glass. It shared a copy of the video on its Weibo account on Sunday (Oct 8). The authorities managing the mountain tourist attraction issued an "apology" on Weibo on Sep 28 that read more like a tongue-in-cheek marketing spiel. the compression of the gif makes it look way more realistic
oh my fucking god that's AWFUL, if that happened while I was walking across it I wouldn't stop screaming until the next goddamned year!
oh shit had me fooled thats awesome
Holy shit is that videogame glass? As long as the brush is solid that bridge should be indestructible. [sp]Cracks appear wherever force is applied before fading away[/sp]
What worries me most about this is that it could really put somebody in panic-for-their-life mode, which sounds like it could go very poorly. In that gif alone we can see somebody completely fall over out of panic, what if that happened to an elderly person? Or what if somebody fell into someone else? It's not entirely inconceivable that somebody could even end up falling over the railing in the confusion. That would be pretty unlikely, but it looks like the walkway is pretty high up. I don't deny that it's an awesome effect, but it seems a tad dangerous, something more suited to like a haunted house than a public walkway on an actual elevated path like that.
I think I speak for everyone whose deathly afraid of heights when I say this: Fuck them for doing this. :v:
That's fucking cruel :v:
Fuck that!

An incredibly dumb act for a dumb idea, but still.
lol I love how the oncoming pedestrian doesn't give a fuck and just keeps on walking.
THATS NOT EVEN FUNNY
This is incredibly mean. [sp]And my type of humor :v:[/sp]
They could drop a fucking ocean liner onto that glass to prove its safe to walk over and I'd STILL have my doubts of walking across it. Then they go and pull shit like THIS
reminds me of when i went on a guided tour through a pretty deep cave system as a kid. towards the end of the trek the light system in the cave went out without warning while the guide was talking. abject terror. thought for years it was an actual brush with disaster. went back as an adult and there i was, in the same spot, when they shut the lights off again. :unimpressed:
This is funny until the bridge actually breaks and the report is ignored for a little bit because they think its people complaining about the virtual broken glass part.
I imagine the worst that could happen is that because of the fake cracking nobody's gonna be aware when it cracks for real

It's not apparent in the video, but apparently it also plays a cracking sound effect.
hey they did that to my school trip too, only they had a big roar play as the lights went out. the guide said he liked to hear the screams.
I don't know why but this reminds me of this incredible cavern I saw where they played a pianola in this chamber at the end that used the caves to reverberate the sound. It was really fucking creepy
This is funny until the bridge actually breaks and the report is ignored for a little bit because they think its people complaining about the virtual broken glass part.
I'd imagine they will take reports seriously still - with something like this you can't mess around with potential problems.
I wish this article didn't exist, it's like a spoiler for a movie. If someone reads this article before actually going there, then the surprise is gone
Ya know I wasn't even surprised when they mentioned the walkway cracking because China is notorious for escalators and shit failing
Hope it cracks for real to prove a point.
Ya know I wasn't even surprised when they mentioned the walkway cracking because China is notorious for escalators and shit failing
The fact that it's made in China just adds to the realism
This thing will gave people a heart attack. I would fucking panic too if this happen to me
Upgraded version for even more excitement: have a panel which cracks for real and makes the individual fall 10 feet into a safety net, then offer free tourist special PTSD counseling for only 30 dollars.
NOPE!NOPE!NOPE! Would not walk on.
