http://kotaku.com/report-the-hideo-kojima-and-konami-saga-seems-endless-1796012603
According to Nikkei (via My Game News Flash), Konami allegedly sent a letter addressed to Kojima last fall. Nikkei reports it stated, “You are unfairly sullying the reputation of our company.” Know that it is unusual in corporate Japan for people to speak so openly about a former employer or its products.

It doesn’t end there, it seems. Kojima Productions, Nikkei reports, is supposedly having trouble joining the Kanto IT Software Health Insurance Association with its application apparently being refused. Over 7,000 companies are part of this association, which offers discounted health insurance to tech industry workers as well as hotel, restaurant, and gym discounts. Konami is reportedly a big player in this association, with its sports clubs participating in the program. When asked regarding the matter, the Kanto IT Software Health Insurance Association is quoted by Nikkei as saying, “We are unable to comment on this issue.” The Nikkei article also states that Konami has allegedly told large game companies to be careful about hiring former Konami employees and Japanese TV stations to disregard them. What’s more, it’s even said that ex-employees are not supposed to refer to themselves as “Formerly of Konami” in their new work when publicly discussing their career history.
That's like trying to blacklist Tarantino. Great idea to blacklist someone with a reputation of being an excellent return on investment who is respected throughout the industry. :goodjob:
Well that's pretty scummy of them, but It's hard to be surprised at this point.
Spiteful asshats.
Meanwhile, people who know about Konami's shit have been active in keeping people informed of their bullshit and the hashtag #fuckonami has been going strong for months. So, not a strong move on Konami's part.
Why does a Pachinko company care about what a video game company does or who is a part of it?
Man I hope the Japanese government cracks down on gambling games soon so I can see sweet, sweet Konami tears. Too bad their government is corrupt as hell rip
#FucKonami
still with the standard strategies eh konami, keep that lever down
Why does a Pachinko company care about what a video game company does or who is a part of it?
Pride. People care more about Kojima than Konami, and firing him was a massive hit to their reputation that made them possibly the most hated name in the industry right now, especially once people learned of how they treated him. So basically they're doing it to spite him and bury him, because otherwise he is a constant reminder of what they are not and how despicable they are.
Eat a DICK.
I wonder when they're going to realize that bad pr isn't good for business when that's literally all you have. Silent Hill fans hate them, Metal Gear fans hate them, and as time has gone on, everyone else has started hating them, too because of them doing shit like this.
For fuck sake Konami, leave Kojima alone already. You already did enough damage to the poor guy, and now you pretty much want him dead?
It's scummy enough to do this to Kojima, and it's annoying that they have enough influence to fuck with Kojima Productions health insurance like this, but Kojima is an extremely well known and well loved icon in the industry. I have no doubt that he'll somehow land on his feet. Unfortunately, the "others" mentioned don't have that kind of name recognition, and if this actually impacts their careers that's a fucking awful thing to do, especially since this is basically just a huge petty grudge on Konami's part. So yeah, Konami can pretty much go fuck themselves.
Geoff is going to go apeshit.
I want to look inside Konami's PR department right now.
Why does a Pachinko company care about what a video game company does or who is a part of it?
The head honchos are a bunch of spiteful adult children, so this happens [editline]12th June 2017[/editline]
I want to look inside Konami's PR department right now.
[t]https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/1a/d6/94/1ad6947cb324e608598a25ddd57ad120.jpg[/t]

But you're completely right, Konami knows they fucked up letting him go, and now their shame is inflating their sense of pride. I swear Konami functions just like a Yakuza organization, where revenge needs to be swift, firm, and unrelenting. [editline]12th June 2017[/editline] The issue is how they handled it publicly, and it doesn't reflect well on them because it doesn't take a genius to see how petty the reason for him being fired was, and why they don't want him working in the industry anymore.
Why does a Pachinko company care about what a video game company does or who is a part of it?
The pachinko laws suddenly changed right after they murdered their video game studios and now its not the prime earner they thought it was. They are trying to backpedal to video games after realizing how much they fucked up.

(I wouldn't put it past them though)
Yes Konami shoot yourself some more.
Bunch of rotten cunts. I hope that Death Stranding would be a massive success so they can drown themselves in their tears.
Geoff is going to go apeshit.
Good, he's a pretty well-known face in the industry and I'd like to see more of him shitting on Konami for fucking over Kojima and co.
Good, he's a pretty well-known face in the industry and I'd like to see more of him shitting on Konami for fucking over Kojima and co.
Next VGA show is based around the theme of "Fuck Konami".
if he was a dick and deserved it, ok, fine, let him go from the company. But don't try and ruin his career just because you had a bad experience.
Konami has allegedly told large game companies to be careful about hiring former Konami employees and Japanese TV stations to disregard them. How about you speak of the events that took place and fix your own companies reputation? Them doing this hurts themselves, regardless of 'good' intentions Konami is the one that tried to steal a reward that was designed for kojima, very publically, even though they didn't have to. Could have just left it at that mates. Konami is the one who isn't dropping the matter. Regardless of what horrible shit Kojima did I don't really think he's bringing it up over and over. Unless I've just simply missed the news, he seems more concerned with video game directing. they could just drop it and people would eventually stop caring.
What the fuck? Come again?
I'm not saying he is, but its a 'what if'. i cut out some of my post, which had "I don't agree with it, but you could at LEAST argue that maybe he wasted money and that's why he was fired". but thought it was a worthless point, so I'll reword it lets assume he was being a huge dick to everyone some how and wasted tons of money. I don't know, maybe he got angry every day and kicked trash bins over or something, absolutely furious and making people spend money on totally inane shit. Even if he was, they should have left it at that, fire him and be done with it. They shouldn't have really said anything on the matter and shouldn't have made a big show about it aside from maybe addressing why they did it. Firing him, ok, fine, but don't come to his show and take his reward addressed to him and him alone, and then wonder why everyone hates you. what they shouldn't have done is everything that followed, no matter what they think about him. [editline]12th June 2017[/editline] with how they're acting it almost completely tells me though that Kojima clearly wasn't fired because he was a 'bad employee' like they make him out to me
with how they're acting it almost completely tells me though that Kojima clearly wasn't fired because he was a 'bad employee' like they make him out to me
Yeah thats why i was a little weirded out by your wording, all i've ever heard about him is that he's a genuinely nice guy who's kind of a huge nerd and is really passionate about his work. Like the worst thing he's done is not bring back David Hayter for MGSV which is more to do with Avi Arad and him being a huge movie buff than it is anything with Hayter himself. I mean i have to assume he's a good guy to work with too considering a pretty large chunk of Kojima Productions left with him to form the new Kojima Productions. Also Konami's huge crusade against him just makes them look worse not just because of what you said, but also because he's always put out good products of which almost all sell great. Like, i genuinely cant think of a single mediocre or bad game he's put out, mechanically all of the Metal Gear games are fantastic and they were i think Konami's best selling games.
I've heard someone argue that Kojima wasn't as good as he was said to be so that's where I was going but I didn't remember most of the post so I just sorta flunked the wording I hope this is a rumormill news story though and they've stopped caring
Konami is the one that needs to be concerned about being blacklisted they claim Kojima was "unfair" or whatever, but the reality is they got where they are by being fuckheads maybe Konami needs a lesson on the concept of karma
