CBS exec fired for unsympathetic Vegas massacre post
A CBS legal executive who said she had no sympathy for the victims killed in Las Vegas because they were “country music fans” — and therefore likely Republican — has been fired.

“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing,” she wrote on Facebook. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”
:speechless:
being so prejudiced that you'd make assumptions that all the people who died are people you don't like and feeling totally okay with it
:s:
I'll take horseshoe theory for 1000, Alex.

They like country music, therefore they're Republicans, therefore they deserved to die
Listen lady I don't like country music either but that's a little much
Wow, there are barely any words.. ( Though I may have an idea what just happened.. :privilege: ) [sp] /s [/sp]
Pretty much some dumb generalizations about people and their tastes. There are people who like country music who
also happen to be gun owners, but that's hardly all of them.
Though that dumb logic aside, no one should ever wish / applaud the death of innocent civilians who were unfairly taken away from their families.
With that in mind, I will instead applaud her swift and well deserved sacking..
Country music is only for Republicans..? What the fuck is Dark Country and Folk Punk then? Hell, what about the songs by country musicians about stuff like the Virginia Coal Wars?
Christ almighty, some people need to chill the fuck out.
so sick of us vs. them thinking. we're all Americans. we're all in this together. when are we gonna act like it?
People today just love making broad sweeping generalizations don't they.
good riddance
you simply don't wish death upon people for their political alignment regardless of where you stand.
not to mention the generalization of country fans, sheesh.
Whatever happened to having a balanced view in America? Its like you must be one side or the other.

People value being right over the truth, and that is not a quality remotely exclusive to America.

You should see what some of the users on here say about centrists. Its not just the states that have this problem.

I've heard "white moderate" and diet liberal personally. Really helping bridge the gap.

Eh, generally people only have a problem with golden mean fallacy centrists who think the solution to all problems is to stand in the exact middle on every issue and call out everyone who isn't like them.

Not the kind of posts I've seen on this forum. I don't doubt there are people like the ones you described but I've seen many posts calling centrists all kinds of shit even entirely unrelated to the discussion, and where no centrist has even made a post yet.
if you like rap you are a crip from 1990s Compton
She picked a really terrible time to try and pull a stunt like that. Especially on a news channel that is supposed to hold a neutral view on politics.
unsympathetic? Understatement of the decade

Those posts are still largely referring to the "golden mean fallacy centrists", there's just no actual distinct name for that particular group yet so people just post "centrist" and hope everyone actually gets it.
Because the golden mean is not remotely how you should view most of the issues people complain about "centrists" taking daft positions in after all.

never. it took 9/11 for Democrats and Republicans to even consider working together. nobody is going to get their act straight until 10,000 people are killed or even more. politics are fucked up

We can spend all day talking about hypothetical posts but unless somebody posts some examples it's not at all productive.
I don't even know why we are talking about supposed centrists being supposedly mistreated. It's not like you have to be a centrist to see why what this person said was fucked up and unacceptable.

How about we call 'em "sane"?
Oops, forgot it's dumb to not take a side in this political pool of excrement.
The day when we ditch the bi-partisan system will be a good one. Imagine being so fanatical about your political ideologies that you're actually willing to justify the deaths of hundreds of innocent people just because their beliefs don't align with yours.
Get fucking sacked.
unsympathetic? Understatement of the decade
I thought the same. The title kind of suggests that she was fired from taking a moderate stance, but this dude was being a complete dick head.
I hope TakeTwo Interactive follows suit on this.

The last time I remember Congress really, truly working together was immediately after 9/11 when they all stood on the steps of the Capitol and sang God Bless America.

Yeah and then they all got together and invaded the wrong fucking country.
