This year is shaping up to be an exciting one for gamers. As we prepare to launch Project Scorpio this holiday, bringing the most powerful console ever made to the Xbox One family of devices, we continue to make platform improvements to connect the growing community of players on Xbox Live and add to a robust and diverse portfolio of games across Xbox One and Windows 10. better than playstation now simply because you can download & play the games offline/online rather than have input delay hell due to streaming
Separate of Xbox Live payments, but also a good way to entice people with a massive game library, ontop of discounts for the games put on their list. Not a bad idea, and an even stronger counter to PlayStation Plus and its inconsistently dwindling quality of monthly games.
That's not a horrible deal, especially if your the kind of person that plays a game for awhile, and then sells it when you think your done with it.

The Dualshock 4 is still the superior controller, though.

I love my PS4 Pro to death but the best thing about Xbox Live Gold games was the games every month were fucking great. They were either AAA titles or decent indie game titles, then they throw on a game for Xbox 360 running on the emulator. That's 3 free games The monthly crapshoot SONY's been spitting out is garbage, probably the only good thing I've been able to get is little big planet 3 and that's a stretch. Microsoft is wiping the floor with free games, SONY has to start stepping their game up
yeah the guy who was responsible for the XB1 Jumped ship to zynga leaving phil spencer to clean up his shit pre/post launch phil is doin a good job
Not to mention his actual care and dedication to getting proper Xbox games on PC. While not everything was perfect, there are some great stuff out there (Gears 4, Forza, Killer Instinct Halo 5 Custom Games FOR FREE). Lot of promising things to come. [editline]28th February 2017[/editline] Also the fact that I can play with my console friends is very promising.

I wish MS would do what people have been asking for a while and put up a Windows 10 program to access this service, at least for the 360 games. And it's not even emulation, as the games are completely recompiled, so performance wouldn't be a big issue.
I may get this to give my xbox one a reason to live. I got a racing wheel but forza gets old so it gets used for steam now.

(one runs games, one runs apps and homescreen shit, one lets the two co-exist)

[editline]15th March 2017[/editline] oh shit sorry for the bump
yeah the guy who was responsible for the XB1 Jumped ship to zynga leaving phil spencer to clean up his shit pre/post launch phil is doin a good job
I'm still amazed they didn't fire him on the spot
The Dualshock 4 is still the superior controller, though.
Nah.
I'm still amazed they didn't fire him on the spot
People on such high positions usually secure their positions with multi million dollar contracts and firing him would probably cost MS a ton of money.
People on such high positions usually secure their positions with multi million dollar contracts and firing him would probably cost MS a ton of money.
and the bad press/launch for the xb1 didn't?
It's not emulation, it's likely complete recompilation.
It's actually a mixture of both. Game executive is recompiled into XBone format, along with some libraries (this is why you have to download a patch for it), the game content itself is untouched, and X360 subsystem + LIVE are emulated (because One uses a different system from what I heard)
For everyone talking about lack of exclusives, check out ReCore and Sunset Overdrive (and Rare Replay if I'm allowed to throw compilations in there). I'm awful at playing games so there isn't much I can recommend that I've actually played, but there you go.
Even though I have a PS4, I haven't really been charmed by the monthly Plus tittles so far.

The Dualshock 4 is still the superior controller, though.
The XB1 has had slow sales, reliability issues, etc. After watching for all this time, I finally chose to buy a PS4. What really got me was; Better reliability Imo, better controller Really like the design of the Slim model What really made me not want an XB1 is the reliability problems. Despite lower sales, pawn shops and craigslist here is full of XB1's with disc drive issues. I have not heard of issues with the PS4, not nearly to this scale. Last time around, I chose to buy the 360 first. I had to warrenty my first one 4 times, buy a brand new one (#5), and eventually buy another one when that ones disc drive went out (#6). Around the 2nd time i warrentied it, i bought my ps3. All these years later, my ps3 works great.
I figured something like this was inevitable after their Origin Access launch. Both seem like they may be successful.
