I would've expected this to be Massachusetts or one of those other hell holes up north honestly.

fishing communities and holidays, here for new years eve we drop a big 20 foot long fiberglass walleye off the tallest building in town while everybody gets drunk and freezes to death in the sub zero F weather great display all around probably a pain to have lit

I've never heard them referred to as creels before, only crab pots and crab traps

Here in Scotland we [i]only[/i] use the term creel. Crab pot/crab traps is something we would consider the American term for them, however accurate that assumption is. Lots of fishing towns round here will have a restaurant or bar named the "The Creel Inn" or something similar.

The use of the word erect, I'm not an adult at all. They erect a christmas tree, yeah I bet they do, make sure it's hard and sturdy though, don't want it going flaccid I mean falling over.
