Ryan Reynolds is going to catch 'em all. The Deadpool star has signed on to star in Legendary’s live-action Pokemon movie, THR has learned. Pikachu is a species of Pokemon, while Detective Pikachu the character is a peculiar sort from the Pikachu set, a self-styled investigator who is good at finding things. Reynolds will play the titular Detective Pikachu.
That's not Danny DeVito.
If it ain't Danny Devito it ain't worth watching.
I mean...It's kinda cool to say that Deadpool is Pikachu.
People wanted Frank Reynolds, instead they're getting Ryan Reynolds.
I want Danny Devito as an antagonistic Raichu.
Is this really what they're starting with as a live action Pokemon thing? Like we're just going straight into the (more)absurd with a talking Pikachu? Is it going to be like a realistic reimagining since it's live action or is he just going to look exactly as he does in the OP?
Nintendo what the fuck is going on here?
Danny Devito being Detective Pikachu would have never happened in a long shot. As much as I would have enjoyed him in the role, I think Ryan Reynolds is a great choice.
I can't wait to hear Pikachu say "fuck"
At least have DD as his mentor. The voice would fit

I'm legitimately waiting for all the well spliced deadpool audio in detective pikachu video snippets
I honestly don't even know what to make of this
What I don't understand is the game this movie is based on was a Japanese only release for the 3DS starring a boy and a Pikachu(That only he can hear, no one else can!). It was never localized. It also ended on a cliffhanger, as it's supposed to be an episodic spinoff series.
Now, I'm worried a 2nd episode and a localization for the first hasn't happened because of this movie deal.
They're making a live-action Pokemon movie? :v:

I wouldn't be surprised if episode 1 is eventually re-released on Switch at some point, especially with the movie coming soon.
Though, I wouldn't be surprised if episode 2 drops out of nowhere and comes out, since that happened with the first episode in Japan.
I'm sorry, what?
.... please tell me you're joking
There can't really be someone that thinks pokemon are fake
I think it might be more the side of "it's a live-action Pokemon movie... and it's not about the main "thing" of Pokemon, but infact it's about a detective fucking Pikachu?".
I mean what :glare:
TBH Ryan Reynolds can fit the bill. He's known for playing a dick on film, now he's playing as a dick on film.
Should have cast Andy Serkis as pikachu and have him run around the stage in motion capture gear
Well, the likeness is uncanny.
