UPDATE: DEMO IS RELEASED! BACK THE GAME TO RECEIVE A STEAM KEY https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1777595379/scorn-part-1-of-2-dasein
For the past two years, our team has been working hard on the development of Scorn. Our studio has grown to over 20 people and we have entered the financial partnership with Humble Bundle, which helped us immensely at the time. Despite all the struggles we’ve been through since we began working on the Scorn, we are still determined to keep the project alive. We have never compromised on the quality of the game, and we’re not planning to do so now. We are getting close to completion of Part 1, but we’re not really satisfied with all the aspects of the game. After much internal deliberation, we decided that it would be the best to try and acquire additional resources, taking more time to polish the game, rather than releasing something we’re not entirely happy with. With all that said, we are pushing the release date for 2018. More development time would give us an opportunity to expand the scope and polish the game the way we really want to. And in order to make all this happen, we decided to organize a Kickstarter campaign to acquire the necessary resources.
SO YEAH two years ago this relatively small indie dev team launched a kickstarter campaign for their fucked up little game featuring a simple teaser trailer. It was pretty much largely ignored lol. They managed to secure some outside funding shortly after tho and were then able to continue working on the game, and eventually they put out a new trailer you've probably already seen. a lot of hype promptly built up (better late than never) and the devs have now decided to try again with a new kickstarter so they can spend more time polishing this. And thankfully this time it's featuring a full gameplay trailer along with a demo to follow soon after I'm super glad they decided to stick with this and not give up after the last attempt fell flat, so this time around go fund that shit, THX
Looks like a cross between Lovecraft and Doom. Is this the game that had a trailer a few years back featuring a guy stuck in Hell?
Looks like a cross between Lovecraft and Doom. Is this the game that had a trailer a few years back featuring a guy stuck in Hell?
nah that's Agony, which actually did have a successful kickstarter. These guys are asking for a bit more than what Agony ended up making in total so it's gonna be pretty damn tough to reach this goal, but hopefully they'll manage it.
The art direction and design is nothing but superb and the way you reload and change weapons.. damn, it's so refreshing.
This is basically H.R. Giger the game, I love it.
The HR giger art style makes me feel uncomfortable In a good way
Basically waiting for my next pay to come in, then I'm backing this hard. They really gave it some massive polish since I last saw it.
that looks dope af! the visuals really improved a lot since the last trailer. also the animations are very well done.
i like how the architecture is Giger but the infection is Zdzislaw Beksinski, it's like the ultimate showdown of creepy penis buildings
this looks legit as fuck, definitely keeping an eye on it
Donated $80 give me this game please
I'm glad this is back around, the trailer was already promising when it was first announced. This is bound to be one hell of an experience if nothing bad happens. Can't wait for the demo.
What an absolutely gorgeous game
Some of these designs are incredibly genuine in how alien they appear
This game along with Agony is what i hope games in the future try to go for. Completely new and interesting artstyles that aren't common in the current video game market.
I threw down 40 euros this afternoon, since I want this game to succeed.
I don't know about anyone else but even if the gameplay turns out to be mediocre I can see the art direction carrying the entire game for me. Seriously not enough games that explore this realm of human imagination. Some of those creature animations were awesome.
Backed!
So happy to see this game grow. I've thrown like 150 bucks total into it so far.
This reminds me a lot of Axiom Verge but 3d
I'm so happy they haven't given up, I've been starved for this kind of artstyle for years.
I remember hearing about this game a couple years ago and I'm glad they're still getting more done. Hopefully I can toss a bit of money at them too.
This looks really interesting, but I can't help but wish they'd tried to move away from classic FPS tropes like like the weapons essentially just being pistol and shotgun, and an environment which would be incredibly easy to just turn into your average sci-fi space station if they removed all the bio stuff and replaced with steel. Don't get me wrong, this looks great and it's different to anything else out there, they deserve praise for that, but it feels like they could have done more, the environment and weapons look too familiar and intuitive to feel truly 'alien' to me. The creatures shown in the gameplay trailer do a good job of this though, they're very well animated too.
I dunno, judging from what I've seen and read on the Kickstarter page, it seems like ammo won't come by very often and most of the time you'll have to make the creatures too scared to attack you (the flying head stops when you point the shotgun at it) or retreat to a better way (closing the door at the end of the demo), and that's fine by me. When the gameplay is a bit slower, I get to have more time to appreciate the effort the team has put into the world and designs.
What the actual fuck is this. It's insanely creepy and disturbing, like it's taking the creepiest parts of Doom, H.R. Giger, Lovecraft and a few others. I want it.
I like how it's not just an obvious homage to Giger but it's also all original work, it's a very faithful recreation of his style without outright copying his designs

Backed it! I was wondering what happened to this game. I'm glad it's still alive and near completion.
it's now officially 50% funded, fuck yesssss
With your help, we have reached 50% of our Kickstarter goal in less than 3 days! We received overwhelming support from the community and we'll do our best to reward your continuous support. We're working hard on the demo and we expect to finish it before the end of September. Meanwhile, we're doing our best to spread the word about the campaign far and wide and your help with that would help us reach our goal - make Scorn a great game! I'm actually looking forward to the demo. The art is incredible but what we saw of the gameplay didn't sell me. Getting my hands on it for real would be nice.
