Except unlike us, he would later turn those assignments into massive hits. As revealed today on Wilson's Twitter, back in the ’50s, when Wilson was a student at Hawthorne High School, he received an F on a music class composition. That composition later evolved into “Surfin’,” the single that launched the Beach Boys’ career.
https://pitchfork.com/news/brian-wilsons-failing-high-school-music-class-grade-reversed-to-an-a/
Had a chance to see this fella live last year. May be getting on but his voice is still amazing.
Saw him at Kendal, he was sat down with a keyboard mid stage. Camera zoomed in at one point and he was itching his balls, no fucks given, legend

His newest album, No Pier Pressure, which came out like 2 years ago (?) was pretty heckin great, too. He is my absolute fav singer/songwriter/band (well the beach boys that is) I saw him at Pitchfork a year or so ago, and while he couldn't keep his breath for long, when he could his singing wasn't too bad!
Goes to show, never let the MAN! tell you what you can or can't do. (But do at least consider the man's advice.)
