Most of these guys are vulnerable and wildly insecure. They latch on to these groups because it gives them a simple motivation for why they feel oppressed. No, it's not their socioeconomic standing. No, it's not that they're unlikeable people and need to do some introspection to find the flaws that push love interests and friends and family away. Clearly, it's the Jews and minorities that are wrong, and they hate me, and I'm already perfect because I'm white. That's the mindset. Ostracize their point of view and their poisonous ideology, but don't reject the individuals, otherwise you just motivate their hatred. You don't solve gang violence by ostracizing all gang members - all that does is deepen their connection to the only group that accepts them. You need to introduce a conflict, show them alternative groups that still care for them, in order to get them to question the worldview that most have adopted out of insecurity and fear. But that's done on an individual level, not a group one. You can't challenge a group of Nazis with an intelligent debate, but you can drag individuals away from the group with emotional appeals and care and love. Fuck the group, because the group is defined by the ideology - but help the individual, because they're defined by far more than just a racist worldview. They have families and friends and other motivations that can be influenced and drawn upon. Nazism itself doesn't, and doesn't deserve a second of your time.
