A new Windows update came with a new free program called Paint 3D, dunno how to properly use it yet. You can create 3D shit with it.

You want the update without updating?

You can get viruses without updating Windows, but not Paint 3D sorry

I know it sounded stupid and silly (potentially is), but I really hate updating windows. I'm usually lazy with windows stuff. I find it so boring that I had Win7 base build (the original one from first release) for more than 2 years and only then decided to get SP1, which I kept outdated for a few more years.
Anyway, I just thought it could be something you can get individually from their website.

Just let your computer update when you're not using it, or download the updates then go to the start menu and choose "update and shut down" when you're finished. You're only going to cause yourself issues in the future by not updating

Thanks for the tips, man.
Also, I didn't want to extend this discussion and ruin the thread because it's not what it is about.
I'm sorry I kept talking about it, I was just curious if I could simply skip the whole update and get it, just like you can with some old windows 7 microsoft games, idk.
i used to bring the windows vista version of ms paint into windows 7 and windows 8 just because it was better, i'd be curious to see if you can do it with newer versions of paint too.

How do you do something like that? Is the program just sitting in a folder in the OS directory?

yeah you just copy and paste mspaint.exe into system32

So is it possible to get this without using the Windows store?

if you have the latest Win10 update, it should already be installed:

For some reason it doesn't start for me, I try to run it and it pops up for half a second and then closes. Anyone else have this issue?

Do I gotta opt into some special update branch or something? Windows reports it's up-to-date.

Nope, you just gotta restart your machine when windows tells you it's ready to install the update.
I guess it's being rolled out slowly?
A new version of Windows Movie Maker would be pretty nice as well.

Don't know if it helps but I installed the update and it didn't start for me either. What I did is: go to the store, search "paint 3d" and start from there. For some reason it is downloading something for the app . For now I can't confirm it works.

I call it "Ten reasons you're racist"

yh i kinda like this thing, except the fucking idiotic system they have for the viewport forces you to work from one locked angle and it pisses me off too much to ever want to work with it again...
Holy shit this looks kinda cool.
