Can't find anything here, but here's an official statement: https://twitter.com/CDPROJEKTRED/status/872840969795899394 I've already seen people claiming it's the beginning of the advertisment campaign, though I remember them admitting to being hacked like a month ago. Edit: Okay, haven't noticed this got posted earlier in Polidicks, I guess it's up to mods now.
It'd be a pretty cool ad campagin for a cyberpunk game - a fake cyberpunk espionage campaign - but this seems like it's real.
Kind of douchey to target CD Projekt of all things, should've gone after the likes of EA and Ubisoft.
Maybe if they actually released some information about whether or not the game is actually being worked on... https://twitter.com/cyberpunkgame?lang=en 2013. 2013 is the last time they even bothered.

CDPR stated the ad campaign would be unique too. On the other hand, this is quite a serious matter, we might learn more at E3 or if the files actually get leaked.
Kind of douchey to target CD Projekt of all things, should've gone after the likes of EA and Ubisoft.
Except, no one gives a shit about what EA or Ubisoft are doing.
Kind of douchey to target CD Projekt of all things, should've gone after the likes of EA and Ubisoft.
This might be an accident - CDPR might have got hacked because they were vulnerable and the hackers only now realized they could try to demand ransom for some files

Is patience a foreign idea to you people? Game development takes time and they're not obliged to tell anything about the game before they're ready to. I hate this entitlement bullshit.
Witcher 3 took 3.5 years, CP2077 is supposed to be bigger than Witcher 3, it stands to reason it'll take a little longer. Just because a CDPR rep is not personally keeping you apprised of all of their progress does not mean they have stopped working on the game. CDPR is not Valve - they can't afford to just quit making new games.

I didn't know they owned GOG, huh.
i still think proclaiming "2017 is the year of gwent" was a mistake. the interest in gwent is microscopic compared to cyberpunk 2077. now im all for patience, don't misunderstand me hell Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the first game ive been genuinely extremely excited for since that catastrophic letdown Brink but i think its high time they started showing something. atleast one picture, one person talking about it, whatever. just give us something.
It's probably an ex-worker who got pissed off too much at the poor working conditions.
Watchdogs 3 confirmed.
They're kinda valve, GOG has essentially afforded them financial independence
That's not entirely true - CD Projekt is a distribution company and they own GOG, CD Projekt Red is the developer which is owned by CD Projekt. Supposedly they work separately.
That's not entirely true - CD Projekt is a distribution company and they own GOG, CD Projekt Red is the developer which is owned by CD Projekt. And all that money, and all the money from a successfully relaunched online distribution business, referred to as CD Projekt Blue, gets pumped back into the main event: CD Projekt Red, the game maker
source
It sounds horrible but I'm a little bit excited to see what the leaks are.

I'm ready for CP2077 as much as everyone else but I'm not using lack of information to try to justify being fucking hacked.
Maybe if they actually released some information about whether or not the game is actually being worked on... https://twitter.com/cyberpunkgame?lang=en 2013. 2013 is the last time they even bothered.
If you searched even a little you'd find information they've talked about over time: Every piece of info since its reveal up until May 2017: There's plenty out there but the point is they want to do it right the first time. The scope is enormous a fact further enforced by them doubling staff and acquiring the government grant. Games this big can't be held on a strict timeline otherwise you end up in the "nice ideas but terrible/buggy execution" realm.
While the lack of info on Cyberpunk 2077 is frustrating, it's also understandable. I mean, the game was announced essentially just after finishing up Witcher 2 and just before Witcher 3. I wouldn't be surprised if they originally thought they could work on the two simultaneously. However, as we all know, Witcher 3 developed a massive scope, so the majority of the team at CDPR had to focus on Witcher 3 instead, probably leaving the Cyberpunk team stretched thin and probably just relegated to coming up with designs and worldbuilding. After Witcher 3 released, the team probably started to slowly grow more and more until after Blood and Wine was finished, thus the remainder of the Witcher 3 team transitioned over. The team behind Cyberpunk is now larger in size than the Witcher 3 team was at is peak, so I think it's safe to say that they're actually working on the game. They probably just didn't start on it proper (making game assets) until Witcher 3 was out in the world.
They're kinda valve, GOG has essentially afforded them financial independence
While GOG certainly brings them money, I really doubt it's enough to keep everything afloat for too long unless they downsized their teams. GOG is certainly larger than it's ever been, but it's nowhere near Steam's levels of "it prints millions every second." GOG is essentially the smaller local supermarket chain to Steam's Walmart
It's probably an ex-worker who got pissed off too much at the poor working conditions.
Unfortunately, that's just the reality of game development. Unless you're an indie startup, chances are, pretty much every AAA game dev has long hours and crunchtime out the ass. They sort of have to as well, because consumers want their huge ass games, but they also want them out faster and faster every year with no delays.
2017 would be an incredibly apt year to release in though—an even 60 years before 2077.
IIRC somebody that works for CD Projekt Red mentioned in a german interview that the reason for releasing the cyberpunk teaser so early was that they wanted to appeal to writers and developers that have experience with scifi (since CD Projekt Red is just known for the Witcher series...)
im sorry but this seems like a arg Cyberpunk is all about hacking corporations for information and then either exposing the info or ransoming it off. one of the classes in the game is literally a info broker
Cyberpunk was announced way too early, they really should have waited longer or just kept saying that they are working on a new project after Witcher 3
Kind of douchey to target CD Projekt of all things, should've gone after the likes of EA and Ubisoft.
why, cause you don't like the games they make? no game company deserves their shit stolen lmao
