The Paramount film, based on the popular SEGA videogame character, will open Nov. 15, 2019. Neal H. Moritz is producing the project, with Deadpool director Tim Miller executive producing. Also executive producing is Toby Ascher, while Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will serve as co-producers. Sonic will be directed by Jeff Fowler, who is making his directorial debut with the project. The script is from Pat Casey and Josh Miller, who created the Fox Animation show Golan The Insatiable. Paramount is planning a mix of live action and CGI to bring the character to life. There is no way that this will be good under any circumstances, and even ironic watching may wear thin I wonder if there will be a debate on if the mario movie or the sonic movie will be worse
Sonic will be directed by Jeff Fowler, who is making his directorial debut with the project.
the guys only prior experience directing (which is from FOURTEEN YEARS AGO) is this which, having just watched it, is probably the most generic, cliche and dull shit ever. and this is who they picked to do a big screen adaptation of one of the most popular video game characters there is. yeeeah it's a real mystery why video game movies nearly always suck lol. this is so obviously people trying to make some easy money by shitting out the cheapest garbage they can and just riding solely off brand recognition
i love live action video game movies
yea that's the other wonderful part to take note of here: It's another cringey live action/cgi hybrid movie. god this is gonna be such a disaster lmao
Movies suck. [editline]21st February 2018[/editline] Except for the good ones, like the Emoji movie, Pixels and most likely this too
I wonder if there will be a debate on if the mario movie or the sonic movie will be worse
No way this new Sonic movie will be better than Super Hornio Bros.
a mix of live action and CGI
Oh no.
I'm hoping this veers into being a gaudy spectacle that will fuel memes and mockery for years to come but I'm imagining it will just be middling and uninteresting.
man why r they making it so difficult to like this franchise
Oh no.
Oh no, why is it releasing on my birthday. NO
The movie would have a chance if it was done by the people who make that Sonic TV show on cartoon network but otherwise its fucked
The movie would have a chance if it was done by the people who make that Sonic TV show on cartoon network but otherwise its fucked
Nah, we need the people from the original sonic film. Awful voice acting and all.
yea that's the other wonderful part to take note of here: It's another cringey live action/cgi hybrid movie. god this is gonna be such a disaster lmao
Going to be the most spectacular live-action + blue CGI people cinematic disaster since The Smurfs.
I hope its based on Sonic Adventure. I miss edgy anime Sonic instead of safe and neutered family Sonic.
I hope its based on Sonic Adventure. I miss edgy anime Sonic instead of safe and neutered family Sonic.
Sonic Unleashed would have made a great film too.
Why couldn't they have gotten the writers of the Sonic Boom show?
The only good movie based on a video game is Mortal Kombat.
The only good movie based on a video game is Mortal Kombat.
The Angry Birds Movie is pretty good, considering its slightly higher ratings - ultimately there are no critically successful video game movies tho'
As much as I am unsure about the mario film, at least being made by illumination means there's only like a 2% chance it'll have live action elements.
That movie theater is going to smell so bad.
Sonic Unleashed would have made a great film too.
Unleashed would fit better as a fully animated movie since most of the human characters have a more cartoony, pixar-esque look to them. Adventure 1&2 have more realistic look to it's environments and human characters with only Sonic, his friends and Doctor Roboteggnickman having more cartoony proportions. [editline]21st February 2018[/editline] Also, I want them to use the dumb AOR buttrock from the Adventure-era games, I despise the autotuned bubblegum pop in later Sonic games but I have such a soft spot for the dumb buttrock. Joey Gioeli truly has the voice of an angel.
We all know this movie is going to bomb at the box office. I am willing to bet that it is not going to break even on it's first week end release. Rotten Tomatoes and Meta critic rating is estimated to be on the severe negative. SEGA really must have a deathwish to have this movie be a live action CGI Hybrid.
sonic’s getting a live action/cgi hybrid and mario’s being animated by the minions guys if this is where our top mascots are going I can’t wait to see what bubsy does
From my.experience with live-action/CGI movies. Sonic is going to move in with a man and the movie is going to focus on the man and his career in advertising or music.
Now, will there be a Sonichu easter egg?

I'm sure it wont be that ba-
Paramount is planning a mix of live action and CGI to bring the character to life.
Nevermind, this can only end poorly.
