A 20-year-old college student is dead and his friend is charged with murder in his death that reportedly started with an argument about the Bible.
Jacquell Smith was shot twice in the head Sunday at a home on Azalea Drive in Dublin. Charged in the shooting is Raekwon Pauldo, 21.
From the small town of Dublin GA.
I didn't know the guy who got killed, but did know the guy who did the killing, I only met him once or twice.
My gf went to school with the victim.
MODS if this isn't done right I apologize, this is my only 2nd sense head post, so please forgive me for any mistakes.
I wonder which passage it was, but he should've checked Exodus. Pretty sure it says "Thou shalt not kill."

Deuteronomy 17
17:2 If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant;
17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded;
17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel;
17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

I mean it also says π is exactly 3, so maybe we should take it with a slight grain of salt
According to almost ever major Christian sect, including the Catholic Church and most Protestants, the Old Testament Mosaic Laws were superseded by the New Testament, so all those passages from Deuteronomy, Leviticus, and so forth aren't even relevant to this discussion.

New Testament:
Romans 1
R1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
R1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
R1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Yeah and the KKK isn't about racism anymore guys, that's the old KKK, these days the KKK is all about family values and totally isn't racism based! The confederate flag is about Southern Pride, not slavery and all those other inconvenient bits of history!

Those lines make a lot more sense if you read 18 through the end of Romans 1. Paul in this case is referring to those who were worshiping idols and living vice filled lives. In fact, in-context, it shows a sense of mercy because according to Paul, God could have destroyed them as he did for Sodom and Gomorrah but didn't and let them live their lives, however sinful they may be.

I don't think that comparison holds up very well. The KKK is based around the sole purpose of white nationalism, and protecting the image of Southern slavery. In fact, it's extremely ironic that you make that comparison since most early Christians were slaves themselves. Most modern legal codes are based off of Roman Law which had similar laws when dealing with slaves, too, yet we use a derivative of it. Finally, even if we wanted to play the comparison game, there are still better analogies to be made. Modern Japan is an evolution on the same Japan that raped Nanking, they even have the same flag and Imperial dynasty, yet no one would say modern Japan is the same as the Japan from the 1940s.

Even "in context" it's straight out saying that some people are "worthy of death", because their views do not align with what the authors god wants from them. I can't see any sense of forgiving or mercy in these lines.
Hebrews 10
26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.
28 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses.

Yes, because we all know that what π is, is delicious. :v:
Yay religious discussion time!

Deuteronomy 23:1
"If a man's testicles are crushed or his penis is cut off, he may not be admitted to the assembly of the LORD."
When I read the title I thought it meant a man from Georgia living in Dublin. Was wondering how he got a gun in fucking Dublin like, then it dawned on me that I'm retarded.
