A local US police department has urged people not to call 911 after reports that a man had been crushed by a garage door.
The supposed victim in Greene County, Tennessee, turned out to be a scarily realistic, early Halloween decoration.
The department said it had received calls about a "suspicious person lying in a driveway with bloody handprints on the garage".
Officers investigated, only to find it was a puppet stuffed with straw.
Greene County TN Sheriff's Department wrote on Facebook: "ATTENTION EVERYONE!!! For those of you driving on Chuckey Pike in Greene County: THIS IS A HALLOWEEN DECORATION!
"Do NOT call 911 reporting a dead body. Instead, congratulate the homeowner on a great display."
The display provoked plaudits on the department's Facebook page.
That's an unexpectedly reasonable response.
Who the hell puts up their Halloween decorations more than a month before the 31st anyway.
Aw fuck for a second I was laughing because I thought he went the extra mile and made it look like the corpse pissed itself, but that... looks like an oil stain. :v:

Some Finnish supermarkets already started selling Christmas beers
I'm having some hardcore déjà vu here, wasn't something very similar to this in the news a few years back?
Why would there be bloody handprints on this side when you can't see his arms or hands?
Legs, waist and torso are also really awkwardly splayed, 5/10 at best , I don't see how people are calling in thinking it is real.

This happens multiple places in the country every Halloween.

fuckin fine the hell out of him, police can't do rational things in the media!
Funny, I had the exact opposite happen in my city
Someone died on their front lawn but no one bothered to call the cops because they thought it was a Halloween decoration
This is sort of like how Eid and Ramadan move a little sooner each year due to Muslim calendar being less than 365 days. Is there a special American Holiday calendar that shifts the dates people start preparing?
some people just get hyped to show off their spook building prowress

Try four whole aisles of decorations
That's an unexpectedly reasonable response.
but now the home owner can display his murder victims with impunity

people do it out of spite to combat the premature christmas shit
Wasn't there one guy who made christmas decorations out of haunted house props?
Zombie baby jesus.
I'd rather have Halloween creep than Christmas creep. With Christmas it's just the same generic Santa shit. With Halloween you can put up anything you can think of and it'll probably fit.

I don't know about you but I start putting up Halloween stuff on Nov. 1st.
I've already heard Christmas adverts on the radio. Earlier every year.
But how did he touch the gate?

Don't know seems legit to me, and this is probably how it happened...
He decided to jaywalk but slipped and fell on the road than truck crushed his torso and legs, then he crawled to get to that garage, but little did he know, that the house owner was serial killer who collects hands, and that's how he died.
While would there be bloody handprints on the door if the head is cut off?

In fact the arms are cut off too, it makes no sense

I fix garages and they can't even do that, but it's funny in its absurdity.

There was a decoration that looked like a person hanging off the roof of a house. A lot of people called that in. I'm on mobile, so getting a link is a bit troublesome.

I think it's more to thumb their nose at how Christmas pokes its ass into everything.
For fuck's sake, there's even Christmas in July.
The Lowe's I work at started selling Christmas decor in the last couple weeks of August.

We've already received Christmas stock at our supermarket.

We started getting our Christmas freight in on September 9th.
