A Florida man who was angry that his 7-year-old stepson got out of bed to get a cookie brutally beat the boy and left him in bed to die, the authorities said on Tuesday.
The man, Jack J. Montgomery, 31, who faces charges of first-degree murder and child abuse, called 911 at about 10:50 a.m. on Saturday to report that his stepson, Brice Russell, would not wake up and was not breathing in their room at a hotel in Seffner, Fla., about 20 miles east of Tampa, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement on Tuesday. Mr. Montgomery had been watching over the boy and three siblings at the hotel while their mother worked, the department said.
When medics arrived at the hotel, they found the boy lying in bed. He was pronounced dead just before 11 a.m., the sheriff’s department statement said.
Investigators said that Mr. Montgomery had “punched the child in the face, mouth and stomach with a closed fist, threw the victim around the hotel room and shoved his face into the carpet,” the statement said. It said that the other children told the investigators they were threatened with violence unless they also hit Brice, and one child did.
how fucking abominable. RIP
i bet he'll have real fun in prison when the roles get switched
You wonder at what point the sacredness of human life should be forfeit for monsters like this; beating a child to death over something so trivial.
How fucking depressing is this, poor kid. I've lost faith in humanity.
"He then made the other children sleep in the same bed with the dead child, Mr. Smith said.
“Mr. Montgomery took the child, put him in bed and had his siblings sleep with him while Brice was dead that entire night,” Mr. Smith said, according to a video of his remarks published by Fox 13.
Mr. Montgomery’s charges carry the death penalty, Mr. Smith said."
Honest to fucking God if I was him I would hands down beg for the death penalty, let alone if this was accidental which it fucking was not I'd want to be beaten to death just as bad
I don't even know what to say.
at least he called 911, didn't try to lie or resist and complied. he seems to be aware he fucked up bad.
of course that excuses nothing

'Florida man'. [sp]No, seriously, why are the most odd news stories the result of a man from Florida?[/sp]
It's one thing to beat the child, but to force their sibling to do it too? That kid is going to grow up feeling guilt for involvement in this.
Even if this man serves a life sentence, or loses his life, the real tragedy is how it's going to affect the survivors of this neanderthals actions.

I read on FP once that the Florida PD always releases a press statement on every story, however horrifying the story might be
Something other districts don't always do.
So it's kinda skewed because of it.
Messed up story though, damn.

Police records in Florida are available to the public. Weird news gets all the readers so that's why we hear so many weird shit out of Florida.
Those kids are going to grow fucked up
"My dad made me hit my brother, then he beat him to death and made me sleep next to his body"
Can this dude get incased into a han solo like coffin and be displayed in a museum with a label of "this dude was a massive dick" underneath it?

We shouldn't seek to immortalize the dicks of our world. Wipe his name and face from the record and throw him in the darkest hole in the state.

I dunno, maybe the immortalization of a dick will cause an inverse effect of canceling out other dicks. A doomed to repeat our history if we do not study it sort of situation but on a smaller scale.

I think "massive dick" is to flattering of a statement for this type of scum.
Nah man spanking/hitting doesn't hurt kids, it makes them stronger
This is a joke, yes?

found kid beater apologist.
Imagine the emotional state of the step-dad. I wonder what his story is...
He called the cops on himself. That's what gets me thinking. Admittedly i think no one is all bad...

He probably realized there was no way he wouldn't be caught. Turning yourself in doesn't make you a good person, it probably just helps you get a better deal from the prosecutor for compliance.
