Speaking to IGN, Game Freak director Shigeru Ohmori explained that the company has seen each of its 3DS games as the full extent of what could be achieved on the handheld console:"When we were making Pokemon X and Y, we really were trying to push the 3DS system to its absolute limits - which is what we thought we’d done. But when Sun and Moon came around, we completely redesigned the system, and actually ended up pushing the 3DS even further to what we thought was the most we could draw out of it." However, that process of improvement seems to have come to an end, with the upshot being that Game Freak will move on after the new games' release on November 17: "With Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon," explains Ohmori, "we’ve tried to eke that out more and really, really push the system to its absolute limits, and we’re now feeling that perhaps this is the maximum of what we can get out. So we’re really treating Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as the culmination of our work with the 3DS system."
http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/10/19/ultra-sun-and-ultra-moon-will-be-the-last-pokemon-rpgs-for-3ds
can we get more keychain pokeymen
The buttdevastation Klefkei causes by being an objectmon, part Fairy and a Prankster T-Wave/Swagplaying shitheel will never be topped. Game Freak really outdid themselves.

Surely this cements the end of 3DS?
Is the end of the 3ds the beginning of the switch replacing both the console and handheld lines of Nintendo?
i mean unless they suddenly announce a new handheld for no reason, it doeant take a rocket scientist to figure out what this means
Is the end of the 3ds the beginning of the switch replacing both the console and handheld lines of Nintendo?
Probably but Nintendo won't admit it obviously. They did the same with the DS and 3DS.
I was hoping there would be pokemon eclipse
Probably but Nintendo won't admit it obviously. They did the same with the DS and 3DS.
Although, this at least seems consistent with what happened to the DS. With that they were releasing games for a little over a year after the 3ds launch. With what 3ds prices are now it might actually be a good idea for me to get one tbh.
I was hoping there would be pokemon eclipse
That is such a good idea, I will be disappointed in basically anything they release that doesn't have that name.
can we get more keychain pokeymen [editline]19th October 2017[/editline] maybe we can get a garbage bag pokemon
I want a gasoline fossil fuel pokemon. [editline]19th October 2017[/editline] I really hope, but I doubt, that these will be the last of the two versions. I would hate to pay more than 60 USD at launch to get a complete experience on what will be the first major series on the console.
Since Ultra sun/moon will be the last one for the 3ds, maybe we'll see more ports and remakes of pokemon to the Switch.
can it be the last nintendo funded 3ds game please
That is such a good idea, I will be disappointed in basically anything they release that doesn't have that name.
They don't seem interested in having the two split versions and then one final version anymore. Probably because it discouraged sales or something
They don't seem interested in having the two split versions and then one final version anymore. Probably because it discouraged sales or something
yeah, iirc the 3rd game in a generation (crystal to G/S, emerald to R/S) tends to not sell anywhere near as much the first two
I really don't want the main games to move to the switch. The NDS line is soo portable and car ride friendly, it'd be a shame for that to end with this handheld I mean the Switch is also a hendheld, but its a hybrid handheld and it shows.
They better be. So many more possibilities with the strength of the Switch. Fire Emblem is moving to the Switch as well with a new strategy game. What prevents you from using the Switch in your car ride? The battery life? If 3 hours aren't enough you can always purchase a power bank.
Its design isnt car ride friendly. And yes battery life is an issue and I don't want to purchase a "power pac" with my 300 dollar console. Its tough to beat the clamshell design when it comes to portable items. It's so damn durable!
Car chargers exist u know e.g. https://www.amazon.com/EMiO-Car-Charger-Switch-Console-Nintendo/dp/B06XDRNHM5 Although you are damn right on durability. A dog we were babysitting ravaged one of our DSes, leaving holes in it, and it still worked. As well we've dropped a couple from apartment staircases which had to at least be a 20-30 foot drop onto concrete.
If we are talking about durability, the Switch is just as durable as other Nintendo consoles. There were tests of people dropping the Switch from 1000 m and it still worked.
If we are talking about durability, the Switch is just as durable as other Nintendo consoles. I think pokemon games are really gonna get a chance to shine once they're finally liberated from nintendo's shit handheld hardware. ever since X and Y the games have been noticeably feature-bare and rushed in places [editline]19th October 2017[/editline] of course that also depends on whether nintendo will keep rushing game freak to shit out games every other year or if they'll realize that switch development takes more time
of course that also depends on whether nintendo will keep rushing game freak to shit out games every other year or if they'll realize that switch development takes more time
2 year turnaround time is pretty decent for game dev though? I doubt we will even hear anything about the next pokemon game until this time next year at the earliest
If we are talking about durability, the Switch is just as durable as other Nintendo consoles.
No screen scratches?
We've had ours since launch night and it gets put in and out of the dock, stuffed in bags, stuff is put on it, all without any scratches, not even mild surface ones. A quick wipe with a cleaning cloth and its spotless.
Must say ever since I saw those videos of a switch basically screeching electronically at you till its battery dies I've been a little put off as it does not gel well with my hypersensitive hearing.
Good. Focus development on future titles on the Switch (which imo is a much better portable device, despite its size) and maybe push the limit further on what can be done. Can't help but feel the 3DS has really limited what can be done with the franchise. Hoping for some huge new games in the future.
As long as the Switch's Pokemon battles make use of the hardware. Basically Battle Revolution with a full-length story is what I want, announcer included (also known as Colosseum/Gale of Darkness).
of course that also depends on whether nintendo will keep rushing game freak to shit out games every other year or if they'll realize that switch development takes more time
It's not always about them shitting it out year after year. X and Y took 3,5 years to make.
