Carrie Fisher once sent a cow tongue to a sexually-abusive Hollywood producer

I've provided my own title because the Chicago Tribune's is kind of crap: Carrie Fisher's gross but supremely satisfying warning to a Hollywood sexual harasser
[Heather] Ross, a screenwriter and producer, told 94.9's Morning Mix this Hollywood tale: In 2000, she moved to California, a bright-eyed hopeful eager to make it in the entertainment business. She already had connected with some industry folks on AOL, striking up a friendship with the "Star Wars" actress, she told the station. She also connected with an unnamed Oscar-winning producer -- not Weinstein -- who agreed to take her to lunch.
...
But when the producer picked Ross up in his car, within two minutes he pulled over, dropped down the passenger seat, and climbed onto her. She fought him off.
"He said, 'You'll never make a movie in my town, and get the F out of my car.'" Ross told the show. "It happened so quickly, I felt ashamed. I felt like I had done something."
...
A few weeks later, Fisher told her friend she had seen the producer.
"She said, 'I just saw blank at Sony Studios. I knew he would probably be there, so I went to his office and personally delivered a Tiffany box wrapped with a white bow,'" Ross recounted to the show.
When Ross asked what was inside, Fisher said: "It was a cow tongue from Jerry's Famous Deli with a note that said, 'If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box."
If anyone doesn't know what a cow tongue looks like, here's a (SFW) picture.

That's fucking hardcore. Nice.
Should've name dropped.
Cow tongue is fine when cooked.
What a badass way to deal with such a disgusting sack of shit. Props to her.
I miss her
Carrie Fisher was fucking awesome. It sucks she's gone.
Something tells me you shouldn't have ever messed with her...
Damn that's cool.
I was too young to see Star Wars as a post-pubescent, so I was exposed to bikini Leia as a kid and never thought of her in a sexual way. I'm kind of glad, in hindsight, because all this shit makes me look at that costume and really almost any woman, and probably at least half the men, who ever acted in a movie I watched and enjoyed as a kid in a horrifying new light. And that sentence neglects to mention the victims of pedophiles working in this same abusive system. :scream:
I'm kind of glad that I sort of tuned out of popular media as a late teen and even further in uni and adulthood. Hollywood could burn to the ground today and I wouldn't miss a thing. Considering Hollywood seems incapable of making anything but sequels and reboots it deserves to die.
Ever since the Jimmy Savile shit in the UK I have been waiting for the lid to blow on the Hollywood conspiracy.

What an amazing threat-insult combo :v:

You can have an actor in a bikini and not sexually abuse them. I don't get what you're on about here.

Hollywood being a haven for abusers in positions of power has been a long-running conspiracy theory, but now that the Weinstein skeletons are coming out of the closet, at least some of the theory is being substantiated at least in principle if not exactly. There appears to be a pervasive culture of abuse that's been established for a while. Casting couch jokes aren't anything new, but the objectification of actors (of either gender) may be that much deeper. Margaret Cho was open about her sexual assault by a Hollywood figure over a decade ago.
And while it's entirely possible that nobody tried anything inappropriate with Carrie during the Star Wars era, I suspect she had to deal with that in her career at some point and it was probably sooner than the cow tongue episode. I'm not saying everyone has to hate depictions of Leia in a slave bikini or feel guilty about being attracted to Carrie in or outside of Star Wars, but for me it just sours it.
It's impossible that every single actor and actress ever seen on film has been abused, obviously, but... we don't know how deep this rabbit hole goes. This is only the beginning of the breaking of silence.
And this feeling of apprehension and revulsion is kind of hard to describe briefly, so sorry for being unclear the first time around.

I've lived in Los Angeles for a long time and have done my best to ignore it as much as possible because of how horrible it is. It's terrible to think there's institutionalized pedophilia with a creepy circle of old dudes who will cover up each other's asses. It can destroy the sensitive mind.
Of course, I had a friend who tried to spin it as "california was a right-wing haven before liberals moved in there because they're pedo apologists". It's a broad stroke for a complicated issue. Glad to see this whole lid being blown open recently. Scumfucks like these producers deserve to rot.
