EDIT: I have friends who saw evertything, I had left Turku an hour before it happend.
EDIT: Friend who is at a shopping complex and word is there could be attackers there too.
EDIT: The perpatrators shouted "Allah Ackbar" before stabbing a old woman.
EDIT: 1 person confimed dead, one perpatrator taken in to custody.
I did not hear one any news site that it was already declared as an official terrorist attack.
Er, no confirmation it's a terror attack?
No official confirmation of casualties either..
I did not hear one any news site that it was already declared as an official terrorist attack.
I missed the coverage here in Portuguese TV so I can't confirm either, but the news came right after the Barcelona event.
This is something I discussed with my brother yesterday though. We have to stop calling everything a Terrorist Attack, as there's a difference between one and a mass murderer.
Er, no confirmation it's a terror attack?
Still developing. Police are doing a press conference in 1,5 hours from now.
I was just near downtown in a beer festival when everyone contacted me if I'm okay. More news of the attacks kept coming in so I went back home, there's multiple rumors of attacks in also a shopping mall, a ferry that crosses the river Aura. This is a mess and I can't believe it's actually happening in my goddamn hometown.
Still developing. Police are doing a press conference in 1,5 hours from now. Someone took a video of the yelling - you can clearly hear them yelling "Allahu Ackbar".
Until the relevant authorities confirmed it's one, it's just an incident.
The title should be changed, it's only gonna cause panic.
No official confirmation of casualties either..
One dead, multiple wounded.

In finnish unfortunately but it's breaking news and certified info is still unclear.

In that video you hear the man shouting Allah Ackbar, which would make that pretty likely.
Unless it's someone shouting watch out in Finnish, as some commenters are saying.

I think it's safe to say it's a terror attack. Some buildings nearby have been evacuated - specifically a large shopping mall.

Your first reaction shouldn't be something like that, it's pretty clear that this is some kind of terror.

A man shouting/screaming ''allahu akbahr'' and stabbing people kinda sounds like a terrorist attack doesn't it?
These attacks seems so sporadic, then concentrated.. paradoxical.

I can't hear really anything coherent in that video, maybe "varokaa!" ("watch out!") but doesn't sound like any ackbaring
There's a police press conference in about an hour, more solid information then. There's lots of panic spewing around, many friends I know are telling me all kinds of stories that contradict. Probably people just scared of evacation orders and making conclusions.
I can't hear really anything coherent in that video, maybe "varokaa!" ("watch out!") but doesn't sound like any ackbaring
I hear both. "Varokaa" and "Ackbar". The guy who took the video deleted it because he couldn't confirm either.
I live a couple blocks away from the market square. Thank fuck I want to Lidl yesterday rather than putting it off til today. Will endeavour to translate some Finnish sources later.
Very likely "Varokaa!". Foreigners seem to be confusing it with "Ackbar" since they kinda have a similar sound to them. There's reports from people-on-site though that there was ackbar shouted but everything is still unconfirmed, might be islamist or might be some drunk dude on Friday. Wait for news.

i don't hear any allahu akbar's in there, i hear "juoskaa pois" and "varokaa".
meaning "run away" and "look out"
but still there is no way that this was anything other than a fucking islamist attack
it's been confirmed that the attacker was of "foreign" descent and i'm hearing a lot of talk about the stabber actually yelling allahu akbar, it just wasn't captured on that video
and the first victim was apparently a woman pushing a stroller, only an islamic terrorist could do something that fucking cowardly
the blood of the victims is on the hands of Sipilä and the #stopdeportations crowd
but still there is no way that this was anything other than a fucking islamist attack
it's been confirmed that the attacker was of "foreign" descent
Confirmed where, exactly?
Confirmed where, exactly?
Attacker's foreign. At least IS confirms through eyewitness. http://www.is.fi/kotimaa/art-2000005331592.html
These attacks seems so sporadic, then concentrated.. paradoxical.
Copy cat killings(terrorism) are a real thing.
what the fuck man, what did Finland ever do to anybody?
These attacks seems so sporadic, then concentrated.. paradoxical.
That's the point of them. The perpetrators want to make people think that nobody is safe.
Oh fuck, that is awful. Thoughts going out to the people of Turku and our beloved brothers and sisters in Finland.
Doom, didn't know you lived in Turku.
what the fuck man, what did Finland ever do to anybody?
just being a modern, civilized country is a heinous crime according to islamists
just being a modern, civilized country is a heinous crime according to islamists
Yes but we don't know if this was an islamist attack yet. Wait for confirmation or denial by police.
A lot of Finns are already untrustful of immigrants, especially from Middle Eastern countries, if it's confirmed that this is an attack by a radical Islamist it's gonna make a lot of people even more entrenched in their beliefs which blows.

Well this surely isn't going to be deliberately misunderstood by some people for political gain.
