I know that you need at least 1k posts, but I see Gold Members with little more than 1k posts, and those with much more, but with are still blue member.
I also know that you must pay at least $10 USD for a Title.
Do you have to pay again for Gold Member?

Last time I checked, it was 2000 posts AND two years of membership. If you see golds with less than 2000 posts, it's because a lot of old threads were deleted some time ago. And no, you can't buy titles anymore.

This is not true. That system is really new, and tonnes of gold members were given it because A) they did something awesome or B) because they beat garry at counter-strike.
Don't be disappointed about custom titles anyway
90% of them were utter shit. 10% were funny things making fun of the user or something creative. The other 90% were "LOL I SPENT 10$ ON A TITLES IM SO DUMB GUYSE!"
