Since all three are on Free Weekend, I'd gladly want to know which one I should get for the weekend.
Can anyone help me on that?
Everyone will tell you Saints Row 2, but 3's also nice.
I'd say 3. It's got a great amount of wacky in it.
Everyone ragged on 4 but I think in terms of gameplay it's probably the best, if you just want to fuck around in a sandbox.
I'd say 3, but if you feel in the nostalgic mood go for 2.
I've only played 2 and 3, but honestly far preferred 2. It is a crappy port with terrible draw distance and such, but is a great deal of fun. That said, 3 isn't bad either.
Cannot comment for 4 though.
4 is great, but I'd recommend playing 3 before you do 4. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I feel SR2 was still too GTA for my liking.
I personally like Saints Row 4 the most. It's practically The Matrix with aliens and dildos.
I actually think it's better to skip 3 and go for 4. I agree with the opinion that 3 couldn't decide how much wacky they want to be while 4 just goes all the way.
2 is more ''gangsta'' and has more serious moments but also wacky moments, has a terrible, godawful PC port
3 is way more wacky but sometimes a bit too randumb
4 is basically 3 but improved and up to eleven (with a suprisingly good story believe it or not)
My favorite one is 4 but that's my own opinion ofcourse
If you don't care about some things from 3 being spoiled, I would go for 4.
I found the gameplay to be much funner.
The city in 3 is bland in my opinion. 4 is the same city, with alien stuffs added. Between the alien stuffs and super jumping, the city feels much less bland.
I like Saints 2 a lot, but the crappy physics compared to 3+4 really ruin it for me now.
2 was the absolute best
3 was whatever
4 was great
Saints row 2 is the best by far

The PC port wasn't the best.
The big issue for me was random framerate drops.
I use a 360 controller, but have heard the keyboard+mouse controls arent the best.

It was pretty much impossible to 'slightly' step on the gas, you'd always drive really fast and left and right would launch you in either direction. Absolutely terrible.
2 and 4.
3's okay for a bit, but it gets old compared to the others.
4's absolutely hilarious if you like that kind of stuff, and 2's my favorite in the series.
Aren't all games like 11 Euro (+DLC) now? I'd say get them all
Saints Row 2 has a huge amount of content and stuff to do, the world has so much to offer and there is SO MUCH to explore. The Activities are great, there is not a single Activity that feels like the other, spray shit with a sepctic truck on buldings, protect a VIP by throwing people around, brawl in a prison. Sald,y gameplay and graphicwise it has aged really bad but if that wont stop you, go for SR2.
Saints Row 3 has a beautiful eviroment and story-world with lots of high-tech and neon. Sadly, it has not as many activities as Saints Row 2 and a lot of Activities are restricted to shooting people. It's less creative than Saints Row 2 was, but it offers a lot of atmosphere in my opinion, I loved Saints Row 3 for what it was but it's not as good as Saints Row 2.
Saints Row 4. I dunno I got turned off by the Story and World but I will play it as soon as I find some time for it so I can't judge it.
Just buy them all and get a co-op partner, you can't go wrong with the Saints Row games.
Saints Row 2 was the best one in my opinion. So much to do and explore.
I didn't really like the "WACKY AND ZANY HYUCK HYUCK" feel of the later games.
2 is probably the most packed open-world game i've ever played, and definitely my favorite in the series. stilwater is one of my favorite open-worlds with a ton of variety in the locations you can visit. it's got the perfect blend of wacky and serious moments, and all of its missions are unique. if you had to play one i'd recommend that one.
3 went way too far in the "so randumb n wacky" direction to the point where everything that happens just feels diluted, and the gameplay felt very bland to me, with not much to do after completing the main story. the location shifted from stilwater to this generic industrial town, and as said above, the activities were also very bland and same-y.
4 is better than 3 but worse than 2, but I really can't go and call it a Saint's Row game. it's Crackdown 3. fun, but not really all that much I can remember about it.
get 2 and mod it. best jokes, best story, best everything
3 and 4 are ok but the jokes get really old real fast and there's like, less content. the worlds feel really barren and kind of boring compared to 2.
I would have to say buy Saints Row 2, to better understand the story of the Saints Row universe, and also it would be better to buy SR2 if you want to compare the games to each other, of course starting with SR 2.
Saints row 2 is super dope. Saints row 3 is shitty. Saints row 4 is pretty awesome but like a 75% direction change from saints row 2. Less of a GTA-Like and more of an infamous or prototype deal.
I feel like SR3 is the most polished game in the series so far.
I didn't play too much of 4 because the game just felt like a buggy pc version of Crackdown to me, so I never bought it after they had a free weekend on it.
SR2 is really good though, albeit a terrible port. There's a mod that fixes a lot of its issues though.
Saints Row 2 is the best game in the series, but probably the worst quality. It's a bug ridden mess that barely runs on PC, but when it does (normally with the GotR mod), it's fantastic. Avoid 3 and 4 like the plague, they completely hollowed out the customisation and actual fun of the game for a tiny city, fart jokes, and movie references.
2 is fantastic.
I couldn't stand 3.
But the series won me back with 4.
2, 2, a million times 2. SR3 and 4's humor is so painfully unfunny it damn near ruins the game and it did ruin the series by forcing this just awful writing into the game and bringing a lot of "hehe le randum XD" preteens into the fanbase who just want to hit people with a dildo
SR2 is funny, but more subtly so compared to 3 and 4, and it's far, FAR better because of it. Don't even touch 3 or 4, they're a waste of time.
I'm surprised that so many prefer 4 over 3, it was really buggy for me and I had to force close the game several times while 3 ran perfectly fine. The story was also meh in my opinion. My biggest gripe is that it's hardly worth driving cars which is the main attraction of freeroam city games for me, but my friend enjoyed the game because superpowers woo!
2 is pretty good, I haven't had any problems with 2 and it has a lot more content than the later games. A bit more arcadey gameplay while being the most serious.
I'm gonna say 3 is my favorite, it's pretty and is somewhat rooted in reality with the right mix of random and over the top gameplay. Also the most stable of the games for me. I've completed all 3 coop with a friend.
Saints row's 2 and 4, three is basically the shitty version of 4 with no fun superpowers and horrible missions
Get 2 if you want a really good story, get 4 if you want ridiculously fun gameplay, get 3 if you want a little bit of both.
