Some people may be wondering why this is in the fast threads and not web design, well that's because this is a rant thread and you should get the F*%$ off my back.
I was waiting all day for 4th period where i THOUGHT i could develop websites and wow the class with my 1337 programming skills. Well that's not entirely true, I am more of a program programmer. I walk in and the teacher explains the code of conduct:

15 pain staking minutes later...
me: Mrs.teacher lady, will we be using anything other than HTML? Like err i dont know, PHP or CSS?
teacher:[b]no we use publisher[/b] :downs:

me: that's not web deigning...

I remember having a class like that in middle school that only did Publisher...then I went to high school and found Computer Science which has everything you seem to want. I'm going to presume your school doesn't have Computer Science.

I took a "web page design" class last year. Same thing happened. Except I stayed cause the teacher was cool.
You know you can learn that stuff online.
It's high school, you only learn the basics. It's meant for anyone that is interested in it to learn what it is and what they need to know before they can do anything advanced.
Teachers are usually also pretty shit and don't always know all the basics themselves.

Assuming high school starts at 10th year, I had an extensive networking class which covered HTML, Javascript, Java, PHP, and the sorts.
We never even touched an automated website generator like Dreamweaver.

See, the same thing happened to me, except my teacher was a fucking asshole.
He really really hated me, probably cause he knew that I knew more than him.
We didn't do anything except sit in his classroom except use photoshop and excel. But it was a web design class, we didn't learn a single fucking thing.
Dreamweaver is an amazing tool, just don't use the design part of it.

In my web design class, we learned how to make a website in notepad, (HTML and CSS), then Dreamweaver, and then we learned Fireworks for the graphical part. Our Advanced Web Design was all Flash. I've been using Flash since 2004. :smug:
Edit: Also the teacher's the nicest one in my school. She let us listen to music while working and play games when we were done.

I took a class last year called "introduction to webdesign and virtual business" the only "webdesign" we did was making a fake home page in microsoft word. The rest was doing questions out of the book like "if sarah opens a blow job shop and for each dick she sucks she gets 10% of the $30 charge, how much money did she make"
