How long does general anesthesia take to have effect on a person? seconds? minutes? Thank you :)
It depends on the person and the anesthesia used. When I've had surgeries, I've zonked right off within 30 seconds of the mask covering my face and the anesthesiologist telling me to take deep breaths and relax.
Agreed. Some people, like myself, require an extra dosis of whatever chemicals they're using at the moment to get actual effects. You guys really DON'T want to hear how I found that out
Nah, we wanna hear.
Short version: toenail extraction, nowhere near enough local anesthesia. [editline]June[/editline] I was like 10, by the way.
I hallucinate vividly whenever they try to put me under, because I have a high tolerance for IV Benzos. After the first dose, I usually let them have me count down from 100, and they usually realize I need a second dosing after I reach 50 (and by then I am tripping the hell out) I remember the surgeon being a werewolf and everyone trying to get me to calm down as I yelled over and over "No WOLVES IN THE OPERATING ROOM!"
took me around ~15 seconds to get knocked out
It really doesn't take long unless you're resistant to it. When they put me under for surgery it took about 10-15 seconds after I had moved to the table to pass out. They had me count down from ten; I don't think I even made it to five before I started drifting off. They had me on an IV so that was probably why it didn't take very long. Waking up from it was weird though, it was like my body just kept falling asleep over and over until the anesthesia wore off completely.
when I woke up I was so disorientated. My vision was poor, and I didn't know where I was So I took out my phone and stitched together a panorama around me to figure it out so I could see where I was better.
