Best way to make gifs?

Simple question, can someone tell me a simple and easy way to make gifs?

I'm currently using GIMP for the hell of it.

the best program i've used was imageready. not sure about gimp.

If you are lazy you can use Easy GIF Animator, I used that before I knew how to use image editing programs.

I got mine like this after like four hours of fucking around in ImageReady because I couldn't be assed to look up a tutorial.
