In one case, pairs of condemned prisoners were placed upon giant seesaws erected in the middle of the arena. Then, hordes of wild beasts were let into the arena, including large numbers of lions, wild boars, bears, and leopards. As the creatures moved towards the criminals, the men on the bottom end of the seesaws, exposed to attack, desperately pushed themselves high into the air, which lowered the end their partners were sitting on. These men, in turn, descending into range of the ravenous beasts on the arena floor, sought to bounce themselves back up into the air as soon as their feet had touched the ground. The desperate effort of the criminals to "out-seesaw" each other, and get as high into the air as possible at the expense of their partners, was considered to be a wonderful piece of dark comedy by the audience.
http://www.rainsnow.org/wod_roman_games_part_two.htm#Public Executions as a Feature of the Games
Sounds fun.

I can't find images or diagrams of this event on Google. I would really like to see it.
It's also great because even if one side did manage to push themselves above the other and save themselves, as soon as the other side of victims was eaten the see-saw would just go back down on the survivors side :v:
Sure it's funny and all, but it'd be funnier with two angry lions tied to the seesaw both trying to get low enough to maul people at ground level. Crazy lions.
