I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate on the PC in question. I'm curious if there's a way to password protect a directory, obviously Windows doesn't really have anything but maybe a third party program would be a good idea.

Pretty sure ul need a 3rd party app, though it'd probably still be accessible through the CMD. Can you not just 'hide' ur porn folder like a normal person?

It's not a porn folder... And if it were, at 22 years old, that doesn't matter.
Perhaps specify what third party app you're talking about?

Yeah you can...You can encrypt a folder / all it's sub folders via right clicking and properties.
