• How can I start a game in window mode? Without doing it in-game.

I'm locked out of Episode 2. My computer can't handle the Ant-lion background. I keep BSOD'ing on startup. I'm hoping if I can run in a window it might last long enough for me to change all the settings to low. I don't suppose there's also a way to set setting to low on start up, eh? So yeah, either right-clicking on it on the steam game page, and set laugh options, or just editing the target line on the desktop short-cut. What do I type in to run the game in window mode? And don't post just to say if I can't run the background menu I shouldn't be trying to run the game. That doesn't help (rule 18 ).
Edit autoexec.cfg, I think.
With what, though?
-w maybe?
I need a 100% sure answer here. Cause if it's wrong, I'll BSOD and have to reboot my computer. And that's rather annoying, believe it or not.
-window
-window
How would I set size? Like, 800X640 or whatever? Edit: Gonna try this now ""C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 420 -dxlevel 90 -32bit -window -width 640 –height 480" this better work ffff
go to the shortcut properties and add "-window" to the target location
BSOD'd :(
go to the shortcut properties and add "-window" to the target location
Oh, that's right. Do this, Postal. Edit:
BSOD'd :(
see above Edit: AND REVERT YOUR AUTOEXEC
""C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 420 -dxlevel 90 -32bit -window -width 640 –height 480" This is what I did. Can't do dxlevel 80. memory error.

I already solved this problem for him. No more help is needed.
Postal, maybe you shouldn't try running the game if you can't even run the background.
Welp I got past the background problem. Then loaded up the game. played with constant fps spikes. Then, when I landed on the EXACT spot that caused me to first BSOD, guess what happened: BSOD. Fuck it, I'm playing this on someone else's computer. Edit:
Postal, maybe you shouldn't try running the game if you can't even run the background.
*slap*
ow man that hurt
Delete the map :downs:

Just add -console to your launch options and it won't load the background map. Sorry for the 2-and-a-half-year (pointless?) bump. Rate me late if it makes you feel better.
... Wooooooooooooow..... How can someone even bump something that far back?
That's nothin'! I once bumped a five-year-old thread. :smug: It was entitled, "Your favorite RTS game".
