How do I make my avatar not have the white box around it?

It's fucking annoying, I've tried to do with with paint.net and it looks fine from there, but when I try to set it as my avatar it has that white box around it.
This is the image if anyone cares to do it for me: http://newzar.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/rich_poor.jpg
You need to resize it manually. FP puts a box round it when it resizes it. Make sure it is whatever size avatars are supposed to be before you upload.
It's cuz it's a JPEG and those don't support transparency, give me a minute.

I saved it as .png and it still doesn't work.
