Is there anyway I can get my computer to run games faster? HELP!
Try over in the hardware and software section, and no, that's really bad, like you need a whole new computer.
You can run Tf2?
It would help if you had a graphics card.
And a better [del]processor[/del] everything.
Drop your resolution. 12x10 is ridiculous with no videocard. Try 800x600 to start with.
Next, drop texture detail to the lowest setting. After checking framerate, you can try raising it one notch at a time, stopping once you notice a performance hit.
In fact, the smartest thing you can do is lower all graphic settings to their minimum, at 800x600. Then run a timedemo to get your average framerate. This average is the BEST you will get with this setup. Now you can try to raise different settings, one at a time. Run the same timedemo and check your new average. The higher settings that don't kill your framerate you can keep, the others must be set back to low.
Try lowering the settings.
You could try some super low settings configs. GameBooster also might give you one or two more FPS.
Your best option would be to just build a new one. It's pretty easy to do, Part A in Slot B, connector C into port D, press power button and it comes on.
Indeed, check out newegg.com for parts, they have a good selection.

Actually, Part A generally goes in Slot A, connector C into port C.
Kind of like how you don't put the red wire with the black one.

Pfft, you obviously know nothing about computers :v:
Get a new computer, there's been plenty of Quad Core sets for $400 and lower.
Ctrl+alt+delete and close the explorer.exe.
I normally get a 5-10 fps boost from doing this.
Note that this will close down your desktop , File > New Task in Task Manager and type explorer.exe or desktop to get it back.
You can also close down all the processes under your User Name, other then steam and the hl2 exe seeing as they aren't vital to system stability.
Close out any un-necessary programs in task manager. Usually helps if there is alot.
