Where can I buy Iridium?

you can buy it from a chemical supplier but it won't be cheap, you're looking in the region of hundreds of dollars for iridium foil.

how does a science project need it anyway

Thats about the lowest amount of Iridium you can buy, not many chemical providers will sell you a sliver of Iridium.
