A plane laden with tonnes of gold-silver alloy was taking off from Yakutsk airport in Siberia when a loading hatch broke off. Some 200 bars, each weighing about 20kg (44 pounds), were then scattered across the runway.

I've heard of pennies from heaven but this is ridiculous.
Good thing it happened on the runway and not in the sky. Midas slam.
So I'm guessing the article doesn't mention the four guys in clown masks running around with rifles
I'm curious if the bars left dents or holes in the tarmac.
Quite a golden shower
Probably not - they're built to handle pretty heavy loads. More likely the bars got dented or warped than the tarmac.
