I know topics like these have been done to death a thousand times but I'd appreciate if anyone could help me out. I'm going to Singapore next week and I'm not sure what to do there. Do any of you guy have recommendations on attractions, awesome places to visit, etc.? Thanks in advance!
Bring Chewing Gum.
I don't think I'd like to spend a night in jail during vacation :downs:
Chewing gum gets you detained? :raise: Also buy one of these hats
Chewing gum gets you detained? :raise:
The chewing gum ban in Singapore was enacted in 1992 and revised in 2004 and 2010[1]. It bans the import and sale of chewing gum in Singapore. Since 2004, only chewing gum of therapeutic value is allowed into Singapore following the United States-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (USS-FTA). This law was created because people disposed of gum incorrectly by sticking them under places like chairs or tables. Chewing gum is banned in Singapore under the "Regulation of Imports and Exports (Chewing Gum) Regulations." Except for chewing gum of therapeutic value, the "importing" of chewing gum into Singapore is absolutely banned, as in bringing it in large amounts.
Also buy one of these hats
singapore has very little that isn't urban city. those hats are mostly associated with rice fields, which i doubt you have many of in singapore.
I don't think I'd like to spend a night in jail during vacation :downs:
that's the joke also stand in front of a police officer, and drop a piece of paper/food food wrapping etc. on the ground and walk off.
Cough up snot and spit it out on the floor inside an police station. While smoking.

Bring in drugs, litter. Chew gum. You know, the usual.

And yeah to the second bit... but they must have a few somewhere and at least one person with one of those hats.
I guess the ban makes sense.
You can bring gum for your own personal use only. It's illegal to sell gum here except for those crappy dental gum in pharmacies. Yeah, go around the cities. Going to Orchard Road is probably a must. You can also go to Universal Studios theme park at Sentosa (It's an island resort. You're not a tourist if you don't come here). Tips: -Don't litter. -Don't diss the cops. -You are technically breaking at least 1 law every moment you're out. -Don't bring drugs. You might get the death sentence (mind you, you can get it fairly easily. The death sentence I mean). -If you are talking the MRT/LRT (It's kinda like our metro system), do not eat or drink. Not even plain water, or a little mint/sweet. You can get slapped with a fine on the spot (30SGD). -Don't say "bomb!". -Get one of those shirts that say "Singapore is a fine city".
Asia sounds about 10% crazier now. [editline]12:59AM[/editline] And the general surrounding areas.
"It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum!" :downs: But yeah, just do what Xybjj told you.
Asia sounds about 10% crazier now. [editline]12:59AM[/editline] And the general surrounding areas.
i'm sure georgia's crazy you got invaded man
And yeah to the second bit... but they must have a few somewhere and at least one person with one of those hats.
possibly in the really touristy shops, but singapore is a very small country/city state and they don't do much farming - so why would they have the hats? they don't signify singapore in the same way they signify china or vietnam, for example.
Are you sure you can get into singapore? One of my friends is stuck in singapore until the 2nd of May because of the volcanic ash.
If they banned chewing gum in Australia I think my school would raid the prime ministers office and burn him alive. But hey it's Australia...we ban everything :saddowns:
Are you sure you can get into singapore? Hello, I'm Singaporean. Don't listen to all that, "Oh no the laws are so strict the police will get yerr!"
Go to the mall that sells gadgets and electronics ONLY, yeah man that place is cool. Oh and Orchard road Or maybe even Sentosa island then go try the Luge.
Places to go/see: Sentosa Island - If you like the beach, zip lining from 75 metres down to the beach side or going down a hill in a gravity-driven cart. Resorts World Sentosa - Located on Sentosa. The first casino ever in Singapore, go gamble your money away. Universal Studios Singapore - Located on Sentosa. Self-explanatory, although only a portion of it is open. Underwater World Singapore - Located on Sentosa. Nothing fantastic unless you like turtles, dugongs, sharks and all that shit. Singapore Flyer - World's largest observation wheel. Singapore Zoo/Bird Park/Night Safari - Open air animal enclosures, no cages, no obstructions. Residence of one very sad polar bear. My cousins from New Zealand tell me it's better than London Zoo, Toronto Zoo etc. Also, orangutans fucking everywhere. Sim Lim Sqaure - Electronics super centre. When I say this, it's an office block cramped full with IT shops. Go at your own risk, tourist trap, you must know your shit. Ancient Civilisations Museum - It's a museum. Science Centre Singapore - It's science. Also goes without saying: Orchard Road - The one road with shopping centres left right and centre. Chinatown - This is where you buy wicker works and possibly a straw hat that that one person in this thread has been going on about. Little India - Indian stuff. This is where Mustafa Centre is located, an Indian run department store where everything is cheap. Bugis Street - Fancy elbowing your way through hordes of people? This is your place.
Thanks for helping out angelangel, that was really useful. I'm leaving this Friday, can't wait!
When you are back from your trip, please share what you did over here. I am curious to know what is it tourists do in Singapore.
I love this country. Everything angelangel said is true, but also go and eat our food. Especially in hawker centers every one of them has great food. Also we have some pretty good night clubs you should go check them out. Also go to the CBD to see some great buildings especially the esplanade. And best of all just have fun here.

To add on: Merlion Park - Singapore's mascot. It's basically a cross of a fish and lion. Clarke Quay - A must-go if you like clubbing, etc. Lots of restaraunts, souveneir shops - Everything a tourist will need here. They're all lined up along the Singapore river. Botanical Garden - Lots of flowers and stuff. Very nice place to visit if you can. [editline]09:56PM[/editline] I'm not saying call the cops if you get ripped off.
I've heard that the hawker food is amazing. In Thailand food from the food court were pretty damn tasty. I can't imagine clubbing with my parents.
