Ey, so I'm likely going to get a piercing at the end of the month and it got me thinking what the general populous opinion here on Facepunch is about this specific type of body mod, went back and looked at some older threads and people at the time seemed negative towards anything other than an ear-piercing - thought I'd make this poll and see if people still retain that general thought.
Personally I'm obviously for them given my situation, and I'm cool with most of the things people do to their bodies. There are some exceptions though. I'll never understand a Prince Albert.
It'd be cool if people posted what their general "limits" are as well, I like reading opinions.
I wouldn't get a piercing personally but if you have the right style they can look good.
However, while face piercings are becoming stylish there are still employers who may look the other way if they see you with them, but the same goes for visible body tattoos. Nowadays because the younger generation is replacing the old, body piercings are more widely accepted but prejudice still exists.
the only ones i'm opposed to are nose rings, any sort of ring on the nose looks weird in my opinion.
however, everywhere else is fair game
small piercings and such look good. But stuff like noses, dicks etc. is just weird.
I don't mind them until they go excessive on the amount or the "uniqueness" of the placement.
One or two on the lips, one on the tongue, one on the nose, one on the eyebrow, a few in the ears, one on the bellybutton, I'm fine with that but on the cheeks, piercing corsets and whatever other weird shit they come up with is just too much.
I don't mind them but I personally don't understand the appeal of jamming bits of metal in to your body. I don't even really get earrings.

The lucky thing with most face piercings is that you can take them out and you generally can't tell if they were ever there or not. I say most, though. Some do go a bit overboard.
But I also think that's a bit of a shame. I got lucky, so the industries I'm in (game design and animation) is if anything more accepting of body mods because the owners of those companies are usually more relaxed themselves. I do see how it becomes a subject of prejudice in things like local retail/food stores and such.
I don't mind them but I do think they are silly.
A few friends of mine got a "smiley" piercing (the little bit of skin in the top centre of your mouth, between the teeth and lips) I personally thought it was dumb but it wasn't my choice I guess.
Also don't like nipple piercings. They're loads of maintenance for something not many people will see.
But otherwise I like them. Wouldn't say I'm crazy over them but on some people they just look right.

Yeah, that's another one of those exceptions I have, corset piercings. Or anything involving bigger types of rings/hoops. I mean yeah, if someone gets them that's their decision, but holy fuck, imagine getting stuck on something with something of that complexity. The risk of your back getting torn off is not worth it.
A few smaller piercings are fine. IMO it gets a little strange when someone's body starts looking like a hardware store.

They definitely can't rip out unless they are dermal piercings or perhaps surface piercings (mostly just dermals which are a bit funny)

Personally I think non-ear facial piercings look ugly, but other than that as long as it's not excessive I don't mind, some can be pretty nice.
I wish I could get a nipple piercing, unfortunately my nipples are too small for that
I don't mind them, but I don't think I'm ever getting pierced either.
And in fact if I ever happened to chat it up with someone really into piercings, then I'd say they're rad as hell and compliment him. Unless.. I was a crack addict and he was my dealer, then I'd probably be asking to see the stuff.. with my own, last remaining eye.
I wouldn't say I was against them, but they aren't my cup of tea, particularly when they're anywhere other than the ears

My brother got a nose ring and it makes him look even MORE dapper. Also, if you don't want to wear it anymore you can Always take it off. also ear piercings are nice. I hate gauges though.

I don't mind face piercings but they make me wince a little. Every time I see a lip piercing I imagine someone poking a needle through my lip. I know it's irrational but still.

I would never get any myself, but having a few piercings here and there look nice on people.

Ehh, I really don't care for anything beyond simple earrings. Afterwards it just feels so [I]forced[/I]. It kinda starts to make me feel uncomfortable. That doesn't make people who choose to do that bad but I feel anxious when people have lots of piercings. I just don't see how it improves. It just starts to feel so busy.
I don't get piercings. Of course I also don't get obnoxious nail polish either but some people choose to do it. I like me people (ladies) very plain jane.
