Are there people actively trying to take recently purchased Steam gift card codes?

Reason I'm asking is because I just bought a card, but I don't know if I should redeem it ASAP, or if it's safe to keep on the side until I need it.

edit: I already redeemed the card, but I still want to see a good answer to this question.

doesn't those codes something like this:

xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx

???

doubt it'd be found that fast. that said, is there really much point to not redeem is right now? could put it in your steam wallet so you don't have to find your gift card when you want to buy something with it

the idea is that i won't be tempted to buy random stuff if i look at my balance and it's too low.

but i guess you could argue "just have some willpower" so in the end it might just be pointless to not redeem it now.

also, the code i got was in xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx form
