Its actually not that anyoing in Dirt 3 only time you use it is when you create an account, but other than that it's not that much in the way. I think a lot of people are overreacting over gfwl. It's also a really great game improves on every part from the second one.

First time I played DiRT2 it took me about 2 hours just to connect to GFWL.

I'm sure the game is great - but like you said, it doesn't do much, so why should you bother installing something you're never going to need?

Yeah i don't like gfwl either, and i think it's a unnecessary thing to! But it's not a deal breaker that's so big that you shouldnt buy it! What i mean is that i think some people are overreacting a bit too much over it.
