I first noticed this when my Razer keyboard jammed & earraped an ak-47 to my headphones.
Beats running youtube in steam browser/alt-tabbing.

Alt-tabbing works fine if you set your game to windowed borderless rather than full screen.
Shift+tab is always better.
Never understood the idea behind DLC soundtracks, at least not the ones that don't include any new songs/remixes of songs/etc
I already own the music, it came with the game to play in the background, why can't I listen to it outside of gameplay?

It's there for those who wants to give more money to the composers/musicians who made the music

In most cases you can rip the music from the game, or they are just in the installation folder. Or you can easily get them by googling "Gamename OST"
OSTs can be higher quality, in various formats, come with album art etc.
But yeah the point is to support the music artist. It's a common issue for indie devs that music artists charge them more money since they know they won't make that much from the game's sales considering games are usually not bought for the music. This way they get a secondary income from collaborating with the dev and it's better for both.
downloading songs takes like 5 clicks in the store, bit of a pain in the ass.
Still it's a nice feature to have, especially for adding your own songs to the player.

Starbound was in MP3
I honest don't know if steam gives out flacs, humble bundle soundtracks do, so that's where I choose to source them from
Let me play music from streaming sites such as Pandora/Grooveshark, and it'll be sweet.
