I'm starting my second year in high school and I want to be doing the right things.
study and dont do drugs
drop out and sell drugs
What are the interests in your life?
Wow, really? Just study and show up on exams.
Study the whole time, be rich or be a genius and you'll probably end up in a good college.
Study the whole time, be rich or be a genius and you'll probably end up in a good college.
Ending college with good grades =/= sucsess in life. Be good at something and never do it for free, that what will feed you and not your college grade, eventho it can help you with applying to a job
If you have to ask this then you aren't off to a good start.
Get a really good GPA, scholarships, pursue whatever career you want to do. Study your ass off and don't fuck up like me. Getting a GED, then realizing you screwed up on a good opportunity to get free college sucks ass. There goes $1500 down the drain. I could possibly get college money if I score very well on the GED, but the district I live in doesn't have enough money most likely.
I did the lazy and cheap route, went to a 2 year college and got enough credit hours to transfer to a good school.
I don't know what you're aiming at. Just as a reference point, I got into Boston U, NYU, Northeastern, all the UC's but Berkeley, and Amherst with a 3.57 GPA, 2190 SATs, 35 ACTs, and a shit ton of extra curriculars Hope that helped
Know what you want, know what you need to do to get there, and act upon it.
Maintain a good 3.0 average, and get ever get a single fucking D. Most if not all colleges have a no D policy.
I have no idea if any of the things I'm going to say will help since at least the American college system seems to make its decisions pretty arbitrarily. I'd say get in the top 5-10% of your class, take high level classes, get a GPA over 3.5, and do a few extracurriculars that sound really important, like "class council, club president, etc." As far as SATs go, 2100 should be a good number to aim for (or in other words, 700+ points in each section). Community service and music are also pretty good things to get involved in. Internships are good for money and references, and if you're not white or Asian, milk your ethnicity to the max. It depends on how high you want to aim though. If you want some point of reference, I got into Johns Hopkins, Wake Forest, and William and Mary with a 2220 SAT, 3.6 GPA, and was in a few extracurriculars that I got pretty involved in.

Suck the teachers dick. No really. This is how someone from my grade got a 3.7 gpa while having worse grades than me
Ending college with good grades =/= sucsess in life. Be good at something and never do it for free, that what will feed you and not your college grade, eventho it can help you with applying to a job
I know that. I just answered his question.
Go to sleep in a specific time everytime, or you'll be tired more often. Always study (be prepared), a great study is a great future. Allways have breakfest, atleast a glass of milk it contains alot of good protein.
AP/honors classes, community service, and extra curricular activities are nice to have on your application. If you are any good at sports that could help as well.
Just do your work, and study. Work hard now so you can get a good job so that you don't have to spend the rest of your life working hard just to eat.
Be well rounded. Have good grades, be active in your community (both school, and outside), and have a few extra curricular things you are very active in.
I'd suggest an honors program (or whatever the equivalent may be at your school) if you're not already in one. They're basically the same classes as the regular ones except they don't treat you like a dumbass, and you sometimes get more work. It basically makes you look smart if you do it.
pay a shit ton of money. if you live in america that is. getting a good education means either a shit ton of debt your being born with rich parents.

I was my class's valedictorian but I didn't win any scholarships I applied to (many are sweepstakes or contests) and the IRS refused to accept my mother's tax forms for some arcane reason, so I have $0 in financial aid for the university I wanted to attend. Instead I have to go to an inner city community college like a drop-out.
I was going to a community college then I realized I wasn't getting shit out of it so Im going to be leaving my current college with over 70k in debt Hey its just money right? I'd rather have a shit ton of debt and be doing a job that I love and have fun with than making fucking inDesign layouts for the rest of my life
Just focus, right now, on getting the best grades that you can get in high school. It's so easy, now that I think back on it, or at least it could have been for me. I regret not trying my hardest in high school. When you need to study, study. Do your best not to procrastinate. If anything, finish your homework or a project early, that way you can make time for things you enjoy. Around winter (December) of your senior year, start applying to some colleges that you might be interested in, providing you've taken the SAT. Try and take the SAT as soon as you can, like, the end of Junior year. You're in a great position to start working on bettering yourself and striving for good grades. It makes you feel good to have a good grade to get your back, that way, if you fail something, you've got a little bit of cushion to fall back on.
pay a shit ton of money. if you live in america that is. getting a good education means either a shit ton of debt your being born with rich parents.
Most of my friends that graduated school are in huge debt, my friends that dropped out are still in a shitload of debt. Scholarships and financial aid only covers a small section, I'm doing military reserves to pay for school.
Have a rich dad or have sex with your teachers .
A lot of people are making it sound like attending a good college is impossible without being rich. Not always true, I get most of my college payed for by scholarships and grants, it is only costing me $6,000 a semester including room/board, unlimited dining on campus, research trips, etc. The college has been very helpful in setting up a payment plan with me and my family to make it easier. If you really work at it and discuss a plan with the college it is possible. You should not just assume you cant afford college without trying. I am not going to lie I made a thread a few weeks ago about how I was worried could not afford to go back to college this semester, it can be hard but if what you want to do requires a degree it is worth the struggle.
get sleep, its important, part of the reason I don't do as well as I should is that I have 24/7 access to the net, so I stay awake into the early hours of the morning on facepunch or streaming anime
