Sorry kiddos its been a long run! Come to my house and we'll play a game in my windowless van! :smug:
So is this targeting all sex offenders? Or those who have had sexual charges against children?
operation game over? i didn't know they were coming up with titles for cheesy 90's movies
This should only target the pedophiles, not ALL sexual offenders, like an 18 year old having sex with a 17 year old.
Other than that, whether or not kids will be safer is debatable, since more pedophiles may become desperate and go out into the real world.
It's amazing how simple it is to be charged as a sex offender.
Due to that, I think this "operation" is complete bullshit. If you rub your hand on some randome chicks tit you could be put in the books for life.

why would you do this
This is just an asshole move. They should be allowed to enjoy games too.
America: Land of the Free indeed.
Quit buggering into business that isn't yours New York. Especially when your police force is comparable to your nation's military.

Don't sexually assault a woman then

yeah man the cops around here call in JDAMs every time we get a hostage situation
if you urinate in public, even due to a medical emergency, you can be listed as a sex offender

Maybe something happens and your hand magically lands on her tits, you know, like in anime.

I know someone who changed clothes in their car and they were registered as a sex offender. :/
I've seen a lot of threads in GD at the early this year about some 7 year old kid who had sex with an 6 year old ( Who happened to be the daughter of a politician ) while playing doctor and was listed as sex offender for life. As I understand US' sex offender system is kind of broken so I can see lots of relatively innocent poeple being affected by this law.
Next let's ban sex offenders from cinemas too because it's dark in there and who knows what all they'll do!
Think of the children!
What about those that have hundreds of dollars in purchases tied to the accounts? I'd reimburse them, or face getting sued for unwarranted removal from services.(is there such a thing? I've heard of "Right to Refuse service", but this would be like hiring a mechanic, paying him, and him refusing to do the job after you pay him, and he keeps the money.)
sex offender lists are such bullshit when they begin to impede on the daily lives of individuals.
preventing child molesters from living too close to a school is one thing but to deny people access to something as simple as a videogame?
This is retarded, because in the States, "sex offender" is a ridiculously broad term that covers everything from genuinely heinous shit to being caught urinating in public.
You rape somebody, now you can't play videogames anymore?
This is stupid as fuck, stay classy USA.
I don't know, maybe I'm naive, but I don't think it's right the way we brand Sex offenders with such stigmas. Sure maybe a few of them deserve it (Only the worst of the worst, like convicted child rapists/abusers), but a lot more people have their lives ruined forever.
In the name of making parents feel a little bit safer, it's okay to make people's lives a living hell because obviously Sex Offender means Child Serial Rapist and should be shunned and humiliated.

Because you have watched too much porn and think that is what you do in order to get laid
Don't touch kids if you want to play videogames.
Seems like a simple deal.

It doesn't matter if it happened. Who do you think police will believe if this came up?

I don't really see what preventing child molesters from living near schools does anyway, it's just playing to the fear mongering of stupid parents who think that proximity is going to matter to someone who wants to molest children. If they're reformed it won't make a difference and if they aren't what difference is driving an extra mile going to do. It's like not letting convicted theifs live in a 2 mile radius of shops.

Society as a whole treats all criminals poorly because they're a minority and an unpopular one so it's easy to blame them and victimize them which in the end only really means that once someone gets the brand they're less likely to get out of that behavior due to being stereotyped as a 'low life' or that people think they will re offend and continue to judge them even though they've served a prison sentence for whatever they've done.
