It's too bad that happened, but good on them for letting the work live on.
I hope it gets finished.
Oh god I misread it and thought the developer had died.
I did that as well.
Might take a look at these and see if I can put them together into something for Gmod. If I optimize stuff right I could probably fit all the maps (or most of the maps) into one, since from what I recall they're pretty small.
So what did he basically just port the assets? I don't really see the point.
You ought to be remaking the assets and improving gameplay not just simply porting, it kind of defeats the purpose of remaking something on a new engine.

Deck 3, 4 and 5 are pretty large
Not to mention the Ops deck is fucking huge vertically and will probably intersect with something
Not sure if he got that far though
no, looks like he only finished medsci1.
I've been looking for a way to port out the map geometry as a 3d mesh to use as a blueprint and to better visualize how the decks line up, but I've never found a way to do it.
And just guesstimating the approximate size of the Von Braun from what little images there are of it, it can just about fit the Hammer grid. Of course, this assumes the playable area fits the dimensions of the ship, which I doubt. Intersecting decks can be fixed by spacing them out smartly.
Anyways, probably a pipe dream unless I can figure out how to get map geometry out of Dromed.
I think when a mod dies there should be some rule saying that all content should be released.
I've seen so many amazing things with hours of work poured into just up and vanish.

Yeah, nothing pisses me off more than following an amazing mod all the way to near completion only to have it vanish
I'm looking at you they hunger lost souls.

i think the mod developer got cancer or some disease and stopped working on games
he vanished from the face of the earth, no one knows where he is
If I ever wind up making a major mod, I'm setting up the source control to allow for public access if there's no changes made in 3 months

I don't think it was anywhere near completion though. Although last year Robert Briscoe posted some screenshots for some of the work he did on it, looked p good.

Not even the other team members AFAIK
I just had an idea. What if someone adapted this to work with EyE Divine Cybermancy?

That's the popular theory but I still don't get why everyone else would give up AND go silent when the mod was basically 95% done (if their final updates are any indication). It wasn't just Neil working on it, it was about 20 people. Minus that one modeler, it's like they all just died in a plane crash or something. Throwing away everyone's work because Neil got sick/died just doesn't make sense to me, but I guess we'll never know.

You can read their website for the last updates, they were nearly finished: " it would make no sense to cancel it at the final stages of development"
Holy shit read it as System Shock 2 mod developer dies...

That one modeler did have an explanation though:
The last thing I worked on was they hunger source, and omfg what a waste of time. The first 5 levels were done and the game was pretty fun. But then l4d came out of no where and releases before us and valve buys turtlerock, and we loose momentum. Then the two managers of the team simply disappear ( including our mapper niel mank). At least one of my zombies (farmer zombie) got in a UK gaming magazine, though woot!.
Whic was also what led me to believe that it wasn't near completion, unless they were planning an episodic approach like the first mod or something.
I knew this guy wasnt gonna get far with this.

Oh i never saw that, I was referring to another modeler. WELP that makes more sense then.
