Just as the title says. What, in your opinion, is the best starting point in a Video Game thus far? Mine is Metal Gear Solid, the first. The start of the game with the heliport. Nostalgia right there.
The Last of Us
Megaman X
I don't get it. Are you asking which game has the best starting point, or which is the best starting point for a video game? (before the action, thrown in the middle of a story, etc...)
Bioshock Hnnnng. . . it gave me chills.
Borderlands 1 and 2 both had great starting areas.
All of the Fallout Games (except Fallout 3) Have Fantastic Opening Cut-scenes
The bar scene from Prey. Still the best opening I've had the pleasure of playing through.
The intros to both of the Darkness games were really cool and introduced you to the world very well.
Deus Ex: HR's intro was probably the best for me seeing how it introduces a lot of stuff soon to happen in the story, plus the environment gave me a interesting feel.
Pokemon
Saints Row 3 had a pretty sweet opening
Bioshock's opening was incredible in terms of scene and mood setting.
I really liked Penumbra Overture's opening sequence on the boat. It did a good job of demonstrating the gameplay without giving away too much of what hell you're about to go through. Resident Evil 6 also had a good opening that set an actual horror tone instead of...whatever RE5 tried to do.
Left 4 Dead 2's Dead Center.
Half-Life 1
Deus Ex of course. "Why contain it? Let it spill over to the schools and churches, let the bodies pile up in the streets. In the end, they'll beg us to save them." I always make an evil laugh when hearing this line.

Pretty much all the GTA games
I think Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force's intro level where you're part of a simulation that you royally fuck up is a great introduction to the game.
Republic Commando. "Your weapons, your armor, and most importantly, your brothers."
the lighthouse in splinter cell chaos theory.
Final Fantasy VI. (III in the US?) You're thrown right into the story.
Battlefield: Bad Company I loved the campaing. But I didn't liked the BF3 Campaing, it felt more linear than the other games.
Oblivion and Skyrim had some nice intros. Oblivion's despite being quite ugly now even for a pre-rendered cutscene is really well done and carried with amazing music, and Skyrim's is down to earth and kicks the player right in the action. Assassin's Creed 2
The Last of Us. Whenever I play the opening 20 minutes to that game the entire house goes silent.
In the Scarface game you get this and start where it ends with Tony on the balcony.
