Going to New York for the first time. Any suggestions on what to visit/see?

I'm going to New York for a week in about a month. Do any of you have any suggestions on what to see in the city of New York aside from the obvious (Statue of Liberty, MOMA, Central Park, The Metropolitan, Times Square, ect)?

that's in D.C., or at least the one I went to was there
but in NY go visit some big ass building and monuments and stuff
run around NY asking random people at night where the NSF Generator warehouse is

you should wear very expensive stuff and walk in the Bronx or Brooklyn alone at night.
Anyone else? I was thinking more specific stuff than "Get pizza" or "See monuments"
Go see "Stomp" or "Blue Man Group" on/off Broadway.

Rockefeller Plaza (Lego Store, Nintendo Store, NBC Store)
If you've played through GTA:IV and have the map memorised roughly.
You should know where to go.
