Out of all the things they could of reported on in that RoG article, they pick the one the one that isn't even worth telling people about.
Riot should just say that all champions are over 18 so people who look up rule34 of LoL have less to worry about :v:

LoL is one of the games we run a 'channel' for - you can see them in the bar across the top of the site. We feature news for dedicated fans of those games.
I think this might be one of those stories that matters a lot to a certain cross-section of players (and hopefully the last few paragraphs explain why) - but not so much to everybody else.
It's the same reason you get more news on Minecraft mods cropping up here than you might expect - we run a channel for Minecraft too, but our feed to Facepunch doesn't really provide that context.
In conclusion: can totally understand if the age of LoL Champions isn't your primary concern.

Well I tried to guess with explanation but theres too many characters for me to be bothered.

Katarina: 24, earning the scar over her eye at a young age, assuming she has been in battle for years.
Kennen: 16-18 trouble maker turned good, assuming most of his trouble making days were in his youth, he would have been recruited as a teenager.
Lux: 15
Shen: 35~, Shen trained his whole life, he would at least have to be 18 but his physical appearance could mean he is older.

That is entirely opinionated. Some people such as myself really like some of the older character designs and are interested in what back-stories they have. Maybe you should stop caring about what other people like a game for.

While some lore is okay, like the journal of justice or what ever it was called, some of the character back stories sound like they were written by deviant art users.

I for one enjoy the lore behind these two.
I personally think most people that play mobas fall into 2 categories:
outright don't care about lore
or they fancy reading some lore here and there, especially on their fav champs
I really can't see a big enough portion of people that really care about the lore, tho won't deny they exist. I personally like it the 2nd way, reading some here and there, it can be entertaining.
Given that it's League we're talking about I wouldn't be surprised if it would cause some rage.
The lore for League already annoys me. It's full of fanservice-tier women, Mary Sue characters and a few poorly done retcons to a champion's lore/appearance.
On second thought, some of the characters are really good. It's just the characters that fit the description above that annoy me.

Ashe is old enough to get married and get involved in politics, hardly 16. Maybe 30s although she doesn't look like it.
I would think most of the champions are late 20s early 30s.

Well they [i]are[/i] champions. If you read their brief background story they're mainly people who are really good at what they do or are someone extraordinary. Demi-god, prince of a nation, martial arts master, gladiators that can literally take on hundreds of men at once, etc.
I think female champion design not including yordles is around 50/50 or 60/40 in terms of blatant fanservice or not on their normal look. Although one could argue a lot of champions have justified fan service. Nidalee is pretty much a female Tarzan for example and Tarzan only wore a loincloth.

That's rather subjective, alot of people I know are into LoL lore while enjoying a game. It's all preference, I guess.
Well I doubt people like LoL for the lore first and foremost. I don't see what's wrong with a little back story for people who care about their favorite champion's pasts. A lot of people have been asking Riot for new lore tidbits and so far we've gotten a lot of good lore snippits such as shopkeeper lines and champion quotes.
I think the most important issue here is that everyone is over 18 except Annie. Happy?
