• A teacher took my phone and read one of my messages, what should I do?

Well, yesterday I was texting in class and my phone slipped and my teacher decided to take my phone. I noticed the exact time on the phone though when I went to go hand it to the teacher and it was 12:12PM, and when I got my phone back later that day, I had a message from 12:14PM that was marked as read and my phone was on the home screen. I clearly saw him looking at the phone at his desk too because one of my friends brought it up at first, but I just thought he was looking at the phone itself and he was about to put the sticky note with my name on it or something, but I mean, should I go to my principle about this? Because I kind of feel like it's a violation of privacy, I don't really like some stranger even reading one of my messages, it just makes me feel like weird in a way, I never really felt like I couldn't trust a teacher just to leave my phone alone. And I don't care if he didn't look at the message or not, the point is he must have at least unlocked the phone, and he personally shouldn't be fucking with my phone without me knowing. I doubt your teacher would have been messing with your phone. Shouldn't have been texting in class. Whenever a teacher told me to give him my phone I would take out the battery and give the phone to him. That way nobody can fuck with it.
The lockscreen for my phone is Tentacle Porn. NO teacher will want to touch it then.
aslong as the message didn't read "good luck raping your teacher lol" then you're alright. [sp]but i would see your principle, yes[/sp]

If you're not allowed to use your phone, then don't, and you wont get it confiscated in the first place.

Imagine going through airport security and the guy just starts looking through your messages. It just feels weird.

If you had messages that you felt were private, go to the principle and/or counselor. If they weren't private, talk to him about it.
Probably a quick peek to see if there were other students in the class texting.
Do you not lock your Ipod? I have mine to lock every time instantly. That way no one can mess with it.
Why the hell were you texting in class anyway? People like that piss me off. It's fucking distracting for other people that are actually trying to pay attention to the lecture. Just turn the damn thing off and you won't have problems anymore.

Is texting not really that much of a social necessity these days that you people are so defensive of the teacher? It's annoying that teachers take up our phones, and yes they're doing their jobs, but texting in class isn't this horrible thing. How the fuck is it distracting anyway? Someone puts their hands in their purse, sends a message, and pulls out. Distracting? Really? If anyone's missing out on the lesson it's the student with the phone.
I don't text. The only time I use my ipod in class is to look up something. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] I don't find it distracting at all. Only when the teacher sits there and argues with the person over the phone is when it is annoying.
I just hate when someone's blatantly texting and getting away with it, and another kid texts once and gets it taken away. I also hate when teachers get extremely angry at you when your phone rings in class. Yes, you should have had it on silent, but it's not like you purposefully had someone call you just to disrupt the class for a second or two.

They think teachers won't notice something's up when they're smiling at their own crotch.
I'm moderately okay with people texting if they only do it a couple of times during class, but when they use it nonstop for the duration of the class, it pisses me off. Seriously though, 10,000 texts for one month? Even if you have unlimited texting, you should feel ashamed of yourself. That's one text for every five minutes of an entire month. Some people pay 20 cents per text, and that would be an entire $2,000 a month if you didn't have unlimited texting. [editline]14th April 2011[/editline] Texting is retarded
I don't have a cell phone because I can't afford one, and I don't need one. All my friends laugh at me, then I ask if any of them pay their bill. They shut up immediately.
It's one thing to take your phone, it's another to see what's on your phone. Invasion of private property?

Well now that I think about it, actually, I disagree noise. If money is really an issue, you have to divide things into what you want, and what you need. Some, however, would argue that a cell phone is a necessity in this day and age (not texting, just the presence of a cell phone) [editline]AND NOW I DISCONCERN MYSELF FROM ALL THE TROUBLES OF THIS PLANET EARTH[/editline] But then again is high speed internet a Want or a Need
social outcast
Why the disagrees? If you're an American teenager in today's society, you really almost are a social outcast if you don't have a cell phone. It's an oddity.

Actually, I think every time I have seen this happen, the teacher didn't take the phone.
social outcast
Im sorry, do YOU pay for your bills, I don't have an extra 90$ a month. I rather pay for an app that lets me text in emergencies when I am in a WiFi area. he must not know of our relationship
Like you don't put a code on your iPhone? That's silly Also why didn't you just say "Were you reading my messages" when you got it back and saw that.. I would say it's too late NOW to bother doing anything
talk to the teacher first, also I agree with codemaster, 90% of my check goes to nescessary bills, I dont feel like spending the rest on cell phone bills I just use facebook on my ipod touch to get messages, if im somewhere that does not have WI-FI I normally am not in a situation where I want to talk
Also @ codemaster, don't you have pay-as-you-go plans where you are? I barely ever use my phone to message anyone, but it's pretty important to have one if you're out and need to contact someone.. $20 lasts me ages
Murder her
